there is a bit of hype coming out of a small town in the GDFL
the boys are keen and the recruiting is going well
Get on board

What small town would that be in the GDFL? Winch, Inverleigh, Banno or Anakie?

Speaking of the GDFL, Blue West's B and F winner Andrew Spengler is heading back to Red West to play with Peter Riccardi but only for one yeah apparently. The cheetahs are going backwards...

Neither did I Rocky!!

I assume you have heard it straight from the horses mouth and in that case I think the Bell Park hierarchy will be very disappointed. In the case that Fitzy is the new Bell Park coach can we expect to see you and Whispers pulling on the green and white stripes next year?

Yeah Fitzy did tell me himself, but i don't think there is any need for the BP heirachy to feel disappointed in him. He has very good relationships with many at Joey's and Sth Barwon and probably didn't feel any need to lie to them. I really don't think it will hinder the chances of the Dragons winning the flag om '07!!

By the way, I will not be playing for Bell Park next year and neither will Fitzy's son James! I sure as hell hope Whispers doesn't pull of the BP jumper next year, he certainly seemed to enjoy himself at the club last night with a certain form of entertainment haha ;)

The word around the grand final on saturday was that GWSP had their 'traditional' luncheon where it was announced Chris Gilham is coach with Riccardi assistant. Photos and article should be in paper this week. Apparently the word is they announced Paul and Dale Carson from Hoppers Crossing also playing as well as Scott Faulkner and Nathan Saunders. Dyer staying as a player. They might actually be alright

FACT 1 - Riccardi has been offered $25000 to play at GWSP in 2007

FACT 2 - Nathan Saunders has not been signed at GWSP, he is still in negotiations with at least 1 other club

Lets just say i am close to somebody who would know this................

Poor little Dragon! Riccardi signed at West 4 weeks ago as assistant coach, has sat in on all player meetings, spoke at their luncheon about how excited he is and has had his photo taken for the addy. He will also be doing it for next to nothing as apparently he is loyal to his junior club and wants them to put whatever money they have into recruiting other players so they can get off the bottom. Although 3 other clubs did offer him $25,000+: Bell Park, Newtown, St Albans
Fact 2: Saunders signed with west and has since informed Bell Park who are apparently shattered and also newtown who chased him.

These are both actual facts not just the shi**y rumours you make up

hahahahaha u make me laugh baa!!!
Firstly, i never said Riccardi never signed. U your wrong once.
Secondly, Riccardi was not offered $25000 by Bell Park. Worng 2.
Thirdly, Riccardi has been offered $25000 for GWSP (and this is a fact, HE directly told a loyal servant of Bell Park from 2003's premiership, now at Geelong). So your wrong 3.
Fourthly, Saunders has not signed for GWSP, and he has been negotiating with a dragon today, actually 3 dragons. So your wrong 4.
Fifthly, mine are not rumors, they are direct conversations and phone calls. Wrong 5.
Sixthly, Bell Park are obviously not shattetred. Wrong 6.
Seventhly, I am not a little dragon, my head is extreamly big still after Saturday's double...........
So your wrong 7 times

(GDFL NEWS)Word out of bannock is they have sacked the coach. (alleged)
Does anyone no anymore?????????????????

Why the hell would they do that for? Sheeds took them to a Grand Final and was nominated for coach of the year in the region! Don't know who your source is but they are either smoking something or Banno FC are just di*kheads!

As I have the upmost respect for you Whispers and your posts I'll tell you all I know...

At a meeting about 2 weeks ago Peter Burke addressed the playing group to say that they had enlisted a coach for 2007. He made three points during this address:

1. The coach would not be announced until 28.9.06 and is known only to 3 people.

2. The excitement he had for this person was unfathomable. He highlighted the fact that the mere mention of the persons name will create a rush of people to jump on the Dragon Wagon.

3. More than likely the person will be a full time coach not playing coach (Talbot is staying as a player, may not have appreciated the idea of a player telling him what to do)

Since then rumours have abounded to who the coach is with names such as Steve Kretiuk to todays one Blake Caracella popping up. I'll say right now Blake will not be our coach. He is in fact Dan Lowther's girlfriends brother in law. The name that has popped up a fair bit is John Fitzgerald. From what i've heard he will be bringing an U18 coach with him if he does come. As for bringing across some Joeys players, there is one former Bell Park junior who i'm sure will be welcomed back ;) . The thing is I don't much about him and he wouldn't quite live up to my point 2. The other name thrown around, Peter Riccardi is more interesting. Two people have asked him whether he is coaching Bell Park, one of them being Tristan Lynch and both times he has just smiled and winked. This is pretty much all I know and for that matter all anyone in Geelong knows except the chosen 3. Should be a very interesting night Thursday. And be assured I will let the Big Footy faithful know on Thursday night...

the other night i was trying to get peter burke to tell me who the new coach would be, as u could imagine he gave me doughnuts ''0"..... but peter burke did tell me personally that it would be the new coaches decision on wether he plays or not next year!!......maybe carracella is a chance??

Personally I think Sheeds is a great bloke and a good coach. But heres what happened..

At a recent Bannock function a few too many drinks were had words were exchanged between a few ladies and eventually Sheeds' missus hit a couple of them including a certain player and either his mum or girlfriend. Sheeds somehow got involved to and went to hit a bloke but missed and hit a female. **** hit the fan majorly and a extrordinary general meeting was called were it was decided that even though Sheeds explained how much it would mean to him to remain coach, that it wouldn't work and he was to leave. Sad end to something promising.

On another note apparently Nath Saunders has signed with West, causing a Bell Park official to launch a tirade at him. He is free to make his own decisions but to turn your back on your junior club to play against it for a club trying to buy a premiership its pretty sad...

Thats pretty much the same story that I heard Young Pres, however there may be a little more to it with Banno of the understanding that Andy Allthorpe of Bell Parks U/18's is looking for a senior post somewhere. Apparently the matter could have been worked out however those out at Banno are pretty keen to sign Allthorpe

On the Nath Saunders front it is shame to see him go to West instead of his home club Bell Park. I still can't see West breaking into the top 5 next year and one would imagine that Bell Park aren't too far away from another crack at a flag. Saunders should have gone to Bell Park as it would certainly have saved him having to play against Javonavic who used to towel him up in the VFL

the worst kept secret in geelong football is out john fitzgerald has been named coach of bell park at a players meeting tonite. john spoke very well in what must have been trying circumstances in front of a group of 60 blokes he doesnt know and just 5 days after co-coaching a grand final loss.

in other news andy allthorpe, the all-conquering under 18 coach and possible bannockburn replacement has been named in a new role on the bell park senior match committee. he will be specifically looking after the 22 and under group of the senior section it what as seen as a development role at the club. interesting stuff...

does anyone no alot about fitzgerald?? i cant really comment because i dont no anything about the bloke but was all the hype justified???

on the andy thing i think it great that he has decided to stay with the club. when bourky talked to the boys a couple of weeks ago he mentioned the under 22 thing and i think everyone will be happy to have him on board. he wouldve coached the majority of all them boys and will obviously have the respect of them so looks like thing could be looking alrite for the dragons in 07 :thumbsu:

also has there been any whispers about the dragons 18s coaching position?? talbot perhaps??

Heard the same as you young pres on banno it would be hard to go back after an incident like that. He will be a huge loss, would be a good young team to coach. Also know paul and dale carson have signed with west with nath saunders also heard jay fastuca from centrals might go there gilham was his coach and good mate. He's won 3 league medals i think, might be handy on ball for west. anyone know much about fastuca.

Thats quite impressive by West to recruit these players but can the honestly say that they can maintain this list for a few years? I'm talking financially...

Fastuca is a gun still! Watched him a few times in the GDFL this year and he played with the opposition.. did what he wanted when he wanted. He will be a great player for West.. no doubt about it.

What dimensions are the Carson boys? For West sake I hope their key backman because that is were West are looking pretty vonerable at the moment...

Paul Lych looks like he is going to Leopold but not sure if its a coaching or just a playing position.

Also Frank Fopiani has been replaced by Daniel Fletcher, with former Geelong/Carlton/Richmond player Simon Fletcher to play with his brother at St. Mary's next year.

Bugger me... Well Saunders, Carson and Jack, even a Riccardi on the flank, and that could quite easily be the most potent forward line in the league now.

However, no backline still....

would be very suprised to see fastuca leave werribee centrals to go to a higher level now. he has a young family, is 29 and as mentioned played vfl at an early age. has nothing left to prove. all this combined with his work commitments, they would have to be paying him as much as they have thrown at saunders to play..

Fair enough.. where was he between VFL and Centrals?

nowhere, he was very restricted with work. as someone mentioned before, he had to give it away a few times because of his job.......

all in all, he would be a great player for gwsp or anyone else for that matter, but it is a huge longshot..
