South Australians are pretty switched on when it comes to their history.

If I ask when SA became a colony, where it was proclaimed, who designed Adelaide, and who was the first governor nearly every South Australian would know off the top of their heads.
1836,
.....Holdfast Bay(?)
Hindmarsh.

How did I do? It helps when we have the 36ers and Hindmarsh Stadium around, which is what is taught in schools: "Remember those"!

On the money, I work at a major historical attraction in Ballarat where I come across people all around the country and I am absolutely astounded by how little Victorians actually know or care about their local history. In SA it was drummed into us in school!

That's because that's all the people from Adelaide have to brag about. :D jks

But it was kinda the same thing in Canberra, where they'd go over the top with historical significance.

I might be a Vic, but here goes....
1836
Where the Adelaide CBD is now
Colonel Light
Hindmarsh

Pretty good, 3 out of 4.

Proclaimation was at Glenelg next to a gum tree pretending to dodge bullets in the Matrix.
Is the gum tree dodging bullets, or the people proclaiming the city? If its the latter, than someone needs to make a painting based on that

We used to know a fair bit about WA history when I was growing up, learning about C.Y. O'Connor and such, reading "Stories from the Suburban Road" and knowing about historical and sporting figures. I know there is still a bit more of an old Western Australian identity in the country areas, I have younger friends in Albany and Bunbury who will attest to that, but I sometimes wonder whether Perth people even know what the name of their home State is now, let alone it's State colours.

Hopefully Gold Coast. Whole club's branding needs a reboot. Absolute amateur hour.
The logo itself is fine (maybe minus he gradient) but slapping it onto the middle of a rubbish jumper doesn't help

Governer James Stirling.

I know my states history.

The logo is an absolute abomination. Looks like it was designed by a kid who just discovered illustrator. The GC thing has used just about emboss, embed and gradient possible (plus a f***ing lens flare!). The rays are stupid because the GC thing isn't even shaped like a sun. I guess it's supposed to be a football, but again, it has a f***ing lens flare on it. Got no idea why the C is connected to the rest of the oval, or the line that almost connects the G to the oval. About as stupid as the serifs on the 'Suns' text. It can't be scaled properly because the sun ray gradients look shocking shrunken down, so they are removed, therefore not making the GC look like a sun anymore, even though it didn't look like a sun to begin with because it's an oval. Like everything that club did in it's infancy, it's a clusterf***. Jumper would look better without it too.

Feel like this probably belongs here as well. AFLW premiership rings presented to the players.
AFLWRing_620.jpg

When I first saw that earlier on twitter I was all set to launch into a tirade asking what was wrong with traditional medals, then saw another tweet mentioning that the winning girls get medals too. So this is the equivalent of the watches that winning mens players have received for the last couple of years. Not so bad then.

If you haven't worked it out, I think rings are a ****ing stupid way to commemorate a final/title/championship win.
