underdone? underdone?

After a full preaseason, and 4 practice matches, and barely 10 days out from the first match????

Underdone?? .. and we should wait until "3 or 4 weeks down the track" .... wot? Round 4? Will Round 4 do you, then?

This must be some new incredible fitness, strength and conditioning technique; dont be match ready until after the season starts.

This give 'pre-season' a whole new meaning! It extends into round 4! so really, our season only starts in Round 5: so does anyone get awarded points Round 1 -4? I guess not.

(I think that this post is up there with Capt. Johnson's infamous "it was the wake up call we needed" explanation after another Round 1 Thrashing. "Wake up call? in Round 1? Wasnt the last 10 years a ****ing wake up call????)

settle down ya bloody peanut, still plenty of experimentation going on, Rance, astbury at FB, Nahas tagging...called fine tuning, the scoreline is immaterial

You may have missed it but Newman Jack and Deledio had played 2 quarters of footy combined prior to last Friday night, Jackson had played about 6 quarters and McGuane 5 quarters all because of injury concerns. And they are just the senior listed players, a few of the younger kids have also been forced to sit out due to slight niggles.

lol very funny. i love it when the delusionals are shown the error of their ways but they havent the good sense to to take heed.

i have to ask all the ferals out there shouldnt players like white be doing all they can to impress or nahas or post or rance or connors gourdis graham webberley and on and on i could go. surely these blokes should all be jumping out of their skins but instead it seems the lot of em are underdone. what the hell does this say about the professionalism of our players.
it seems according to most of our supporters these blokes are already established and good enough and dont need to show anything in the preseason

Here we go again.

Lets abandon the season boys and girls. We lost by 10 goals to Adelaide at Visy Park in a practice game. Im convinced.

Im off to the snow. See ya next year! :thumbsu:

underdone means players have had some injury concerns. knob

a) who gives a shit... it was a praccy match
Actually, it was our LAST practice match before the season, a game that almost every other side used as a final tune up to how they'll run out Round 1. So in this sense is was very very dissappointing... and the coach said as much.

b) 2011 was never going to be a brilliant year and anyone who thought different smokes too much crack or believes more than half the crap that gets written on here...
Agree: 4-6 wins only: but competitive in the rest; at the moment the signs arent good about "competitive". If you have an interest in the club OF COURSE youre going to worry about it: we're supporters! thats our function for gods sake! Our job isnt to be indifferent!

c) We will still get smacked from time to time because we don't have a very good team (advanced concept that one)
Yes we will: but surely surely surely the club doesnt want another Round 1 debacle on its hands. Those last two round 1's have hurt the club more deeply than some people seem to appreciate. Most sensible supporters are not expecting any magical leap this year, but there has to be at least some sign of progress - both absolute and relative to other teams. Thats not demanding anything more than the club should be demanding of itself.

d) the road to a flag will not necessarily be 15th, 11th, 6th, 3rd, flag... it could be 15th, 14th, 8th and so on or even 15th, 17th....
agreed: but the road to another decade in the bottom 8 also follows a similar pattern and I for one, dont think I could bear it.

Everyone is telling the Bombers to keep a lid on it, maybe we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water just yet...
No, definately not; but even you must admit, tobjectively looking at our entire preaseason: we have farily good cause to feel some anxiety of the prospects being worse than our already VERY LOW expectations.

UK, I am not saying for an instant that I wouldn't have preferred us to come out and win every praccy by 80 points but I have faith that DH is trying to prime the team (read club) for a tilt at a premiership. Reading into that, I don't believe that DH is certain yet which players will be coming along for the ride or in which positions. If 2011 is a poor season for us (win/loss terms) but DH finds out what he needs to about certain players and maybe his own strategies then I have no problem with that if it takes us closer to a flag.

We have managed to get through the pre season unscathed from an injury point of view.... limited minutes for Newy, Lids and Mini Roo, Cotch getting left out of the last one and so on and so forth. Sydney are a side that generally had crap pre seasons and then deliver good results in season. By that comment I am not suggesting that we will deliver great results in season but merely not to read anything into pre season form.

Remember last year when DH said all of the players had to 'go back to school'? Well, I would be absolutely flabbergasted if they now know all they need to know... hence the learning continues... pre season would be as good a time as any. We don't have the experience of teams like Adel, Haw etc so if we try a few new things then I'm not surprised if they don't work every time.

I like you do not wish to see another 10 years of crap.... but DH really does need time with this group, sorry that should read, to mould his own group and we all need to be patient.... for our own good and the clubs.

The underdone players people are talking about Claws are senior players like Jack Lids Newman McGuane & Jackson.

As for guys like Nahas Vickery & Rance given they have averaged 93, 84 & 74 DT points in weeks 2 & 3 of the preseason games it could be suggested that they have been having a red hot crack and trying to secure themselves spots in the 22. I haven't seen anyone suggest these guys were amongst those that were underdone.

BTW a bit hard on Post, kid carried a thigh injury for a good month prior to playing VFL last week and AFL this week.

Went to the game, watched the whole thing, was a bit disappointed but all in all didn't really give a shit. However my immediate thoughts that the Richmond board will go into absolute meltdown. I was right.

Perspective is everything. We are going to get belted by 60+ points this year. That's the reality of things. Long term judgments about our list simply cant be made from a practice game. That's also a reality.

Yeah but there is no fun in that.

Having been at the game, I am not going to panic. One thing I noticed was that a lot of players were gasping when they got to the bench after being on the park for a only a few minutes, these players were all the ones that had interupted preseasons such as foley.

We lacked any intensity but I did see positive signs in posty and tyrone. I thought we lacked any ability today to play on quickly and take the first option (which I saw numerous times was the best option). We played to Adelaide's strengths, stop start football. Mid 2nd to about mid 3rd we played on more and as such was the only time we outscored them.

I am in no way going to panic over this performance as it's preseason and there was definitely no desire there from the guys today.

BTW, Santa, I'm sure you keep playing the man on some of the posters here that at some stage your own mods will red card you. How about not lowering yourself.

You cannot be serious..?!?!?!...

He needs to improve his game instead...

Nice quality serves not risky backhanders when his best games are challenged...:thumbsu:...

Went on Friday with mad Tigers mate.
from a neuteral observer, two things stood out for mine.

1-Your kick ins-awful, no system and oh so slow. Ditto receive of kick ins. Adelaide were in position so much quicker and manged to get it our nearly every time.

2 Froward pressure. the most obvious trend in the game yet Tigers were playing three talls who couldn't chase when it hit the gorund. Other than Nahas( who played quite well) when the ball his the ground, it was all over.

Sorry, one more. Rance kept going to ground-every time.

I felt sorry for all the angry supporter on the way out and the beer wasnt' overly cold.

Do you think this post is playing the ball or playing the man ?
Glass house syndrome ?

Where do we think Houli should play, i personally want him on a wing or on a HFF

Wing...like to see houli have plenty of space to run/recieve and deliver the precision ball to our forwards with that lethal left foot of his...

Do not want to see houli in congestion like the hff where he will get crowded, hurried and mauled...

Space, space on the wing... outer space...not out-of-space...

:)Fair calls Rocky!
Practice game or night, our kick-in system - or should I say lack of system - has been deplorable for years.
It should be ironed out by now.
Ditto for forward pressure.
Looks like we have some work ahead of us still!
