Then why was he captain?

He's our best leader, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a black mark declaring himself fit for the GF prior. The mistake wasn't not playing Mills. It was not playing Adams. Heaven knows why we decided in a GF to have less contested ball winners

Great player Horse, part of one of the best forward lines ever.

Longmire was a conservative coach, he his sides played disciplined footy following on from Roos style (obviously tweaking it).

The AFL tampers with Sydney more than any other side. This might help them make finals but it hasn't helped the Swans win the Grand Final. I like to whinge about the advantages Sydney gets but the tampering hurts them too, and to top it off the VicBias of the guaranteed MCG grand final (or #VBGMCGGF) mean 1 from 5 ain't bad.

Pies tend to play well vs Sydney over the last 30 years, so I probably haven't seen the best of him as a coach.

Yeah like he did the other GF...he wasn't. Trusting players before GF's...as if they are going to say "hey coach i'm not fit".
Presti did in 2010.

The main thing was the lack of strategical nous in the coaches box imo.

Selections are in that too. Could have easily not played Campbell and played Adams. I love Logan but how did they not know he wasn't fit? He was hobbling in the pre warmup run on the field!

The coach picked injured blokes in every GF, you just don't. Plus not picking Adams at least was the highlight of brainless. Sure players weren't great, neither was the coach in the last two GF's.
You got done by 10 goals

The players shat the bed. That's a fact.

Adams would not have made one skerrick of difference to the result.

He may not have but we'd have something on the inside- we were trounced there. We were belted, the players were bad, the coaching was as bad if not worse

If you don't believe your captain then there's serious issues at the club.

You don't believe your captain would play through pain?

They do.

The Swans already had queries over McDonald and Heeney.

The captain declared himself fit. He may well have been fine but it was another risk on another player not 100% right or match fit.

The selection panel decided it was too much risk.

Nothing sinister nor strange as you seem to be making out.

If Trent Cotchin said he was fit to play then he plays. Longmire didn't respect Mills.

Logan playing g was why Mills didn't.

Can't pick too many with questions on their fitness.

Neither should have played and it was obvious being there, Logan was only half running in the warmup. Why they didn't make the call then to bring Cleary in (Adams wasn't an emergency) was an error. Now would it have changed a thing, no it wouldn't. Least the optics would have been better
