He seemed to be preferred to Scott Stevens at the time 2003/2004?, and the list management thought there wasn't room for both, Stevens has been a real contributor for Adelaide, now why did we let him go?

Consistently the worst player in the AFL. I have no idea what the coaching staff see in him. Plays like a deer in the headlights and is an all around liability....and his (multiple) deficiencies are just magnified as a key defender.

The whole team looked like dears in the headlights tonight. I've never seen so many kicks and handballs hit the opposition on the chest. Our disposal as a team was woeful, and a lot of the time under little or no pressure.
We've totally lost our once unshakable self-belief.

Yeah, he's not great but he's NOT the worst player in the comp and he's NOT cause of all our woes. The pies absolutely smashed us in the middle tonight and delivered the ball into the forward 50 with precision. It would have made any defense look like shit.

The only defender we have that is any good one on one is Bolton and for the most part they operate best as a unit. When the midfield does it's job and doesn't deliver the ball laces out to the opposition and then part like the red sea for them to waltz through and deliver the ball into a wide open forward line then the defense at least has a chance to compete. Imagine the damage Hall could do if he was on the end of the sort of delivery that the Collingwood forwards were tonight.

Indeed, I was about to make a thread about this. LRT is slow, to slow even to be a ruckman, he has almost no footskills and no handballing ability. His decsion making is non existent and it always puts a player under pressure, it is rare to see him have two go's.

He is not strong enough to go with Brown in my eyes, and isn't quick enough on the lead. Whenever the ball is on the ground he always thumbles and loses control.

I saw him dish out two handpasses in our forward fifty in the first half both going to a collingwood player who was free.

He was given the ball on the run when we needed a goal and dropped it and was lucky to get a foot on it towards Hall who kicked a good goal.

LRT has been in the side for to long without doing really anything, I feel we would be better of developing another tall key defender. And the defender would make mistakes, but for sure LRT makes mistakes!

this is by far and away the best description of the weakest link Ive heard. 10/10. I was saying here last year that the hyphen was a hack, when he was trying to get back into the team. So who gave the guy the back door key... you should be ashamed.

This is a very shameful thread actually. I'm quite surprised at how easily people can eat their own.

Yes...................call me a tool if you like but you are way, way off the mark when it comes to blaming ONE player for the teams form. Our defence has been that much under siege the last few weeks that it even Craig Bolton has looked embarrassingly awkward down there.
Give the guy a break for Christ's sake. Thank God the coaching staff are the ones that know the ins & outs of what's going on at the club.

I'm not looking forward to reading the posts from our supporters in the next few years should we have some lean times.

But............everyone has an opinion I suppose. Just go easy on the players is all I can say! One week it's Matthews. Next it's LRT. Then it's Leo. Then there is Bevan. Then the following week it's Jude Bolton. Then Spider. Then Playfair.

Exactly. The Swans have one of the best defences in the AFL but when the midfield doesnt do their part our defence looks extremely shaky.

There isnt a defence in the league which would look good if their midfield wasnt helping out.

I'm sorry but 3 years ago doesn't mean much in 2008. In 2005 he was young and had more of a floating role. He was also surrounded by other players who were at their peak (closer to his present age), Crouch, Matthews, Leo and a fresh Tiger. He is at his peak age now and just doesn't have the talent or the natural instinct to be a KPP.

Look he tries hard, but let's face it, he's just simply out of his depth, his negatives far outweigh his positives.

BTW what are his positives? It's def. not taking contested marks, or manning up.

Roos chucked Barry and Bolton forward because they were playing shocking games and i think Roos moved them forward in the attempt to get them to make a positive contribution on the game.
