Luke Ball quits St Kilda

Just noting the above in regards of Goosey:

Is there a spot for the Goose next year?

If so, what spot?

Who makes way?

If not, what could we get for him if he's been advised he is not a required player?

I'd still like to see him have a run in the forward line. I expect him to still be able to take a grab, and from his goal count in the VFL, seems to have some idea where the big sticks are

Goose, Roo and Kosi is too top heavy though, all in the F50. Probably a discussion for another thread I suppose

As far as who he replaces, I think it's a bench spot to begin with. Would like him to get an extended run there in the preseason comp (assuming we still have him!)

Why does limited game time matter if your team is the favourite to win a premiership next year? Its a premership! There's so many players that would love to play 47% game time for the saints in a grand final.

How does this decision relate to the 'pact' that the saints players made a few years ago, regarding taking pay cuts etc to stay together. has he broken this? I'm not saying he left for money, but he has left the club when i think they have this group unity.

Group unity? Tosh - more of a GT era concept. One of his strengths. Now we're playing by Lyon's rules, and 'fidelius' goes one way only. Luke was no longer as valued, was dropped because he held off on signing a much reduced contract, saw how Max was treated as surplus to the club's needs, and no doubt his pride has seen him want to move on to another team where he feels he can contribute more. For a former captain and B&F he was poorly treated. And the GF rubbed it home - played a blinder, got less than 50% game time, and had the coach then explain this as a possible mistake that was preplanned and not of his doing.
I'm not a fan of Lyon as a person, but he may well get us a flag.
But for inexperience or stubbornness it could have been this year.

Well it is well known that Collingwood are only offering second rounders + to both Ball and Jolly where both Sydney and us want 1st rounders, so I assume the sauce would be mixed with opinion with a hint of bitterness.

It's understood St Kilda wants a first-round draft pick, but if the Magpies deal their No. 14 pick to Sydney for ruckman Darren Jolly, there remains a small possibility Ball could remain a Saint.

But that is then followed up with:

Collingwood is yet to find out what St Kilda wants for Ball.

Magpies football manager Walsh said yesterday there was little movement.

"Nothing has moved with us on Jolly or Ball. We are status quo. We want (Jolly) and think we are making a fair deal. We have met with St Kilda (on Ball) but again they want to deal around players so we have to come up with something that satisfies them," he said.

Nice try, trying to cover up your inability to spell.

Given your inability to actually rebut a post with reasoned argument, no surprises there.

No wonder Ball left with stupid muppets such as you as a supporter.

Hey Einstein, phuk ov!

It is big footy, not an English geek competition.

Hey, why don't you spell that out for me in binary, prove how you understand the basics and all that?

in all honesty. luke ball was a gun player and has the ability to again be a gun player. he was obviously displeased with the game time he was getting so wants to move to a team with a need for an in and under midfielder. thats collingwood. on top of that theyre a top 4 side with a promising future. you cant blame him for wanting to come to collingwood (yes we all know everyone hates collingwood)

on top of that though hes done nothing wrong by your club and you really shoudl give him a break. hes doing what he thinks is best for his football career which is what anyone would do.

He has announced that he wants to leave and has nominated his preferred club which he has every right to do.

And I have no doubt that we will try and make that happen for him.

However, if you're suggesting that by giving him a break we should allow him to join the club the chooses, a fellow top four team as you've mentioned, for a cut price deal fat bloody chance.

Your team has made him the offer. He was a much valued and required player at our team and had a 3 year offer on the table. I'd say there's some onus on your club not to leave him hanging out to dry.

What kind of a message would it send out to any player contemplating leaving in the future?
