Sam Darcy shouldn’t be playing AFL football at this stage. JUH probably in the same boat. Let them get some confidence at VFL level and bring them red hot.

It isn’t their biggest issue but they do seem to have a lot of underwhelming VFL types that endlessly rotate through the side like: McComb, McNeil, Scott, Baker, Hannan etc. Maybe they’ll join that list but I would’ve thought that the likes of Bedendo, Khamis, West and Garcia as well as newcomers in Clarke and Busslinger offer more than those blokes.

As someone said before just pick your best players in their best positions and the rest takes care of itself.

Pretty much echoing my own thoughts. The VFL list clogger types have cost us some players in the right age bracket too.

Bevo has always just seemed a little unhinged and even more so in recent years.

I know this energy has won him a flag and a GF appearance but even in those years the team was very erratic.

It takes a crazy genius sometimes and that’s what brought the team success, but more often than not he seems to just throw the magnets around hoping it will work out.

To me it’s just not sustainable to coach that way and players will eventually stop buying in.

He’s great at getting a team into that state of creative ‘flow’ , where enough players are focused but relaxed, in the zone. They drag their comrades into a cohesive unit where things perfectly click.

When that hypnotic state disappears ,he’s just another coach and not a great one . We need someone who can grind out results at the moment , we’re anti-flow.

This isn’t the first time this has happened . In 2017 the premiership team was frequently embarrassed by supposedly lesser opponents before the wheels really fell off in 2018.

I don’t think he’ll be given another two or three years to fix things.

The Bevo storm this last week has been a joke. Took Pyke years out of finals and a player welfare scandal to get sacked after the 2017 grand final, Longmire bombed after they lost 2016 for a few years and West Coast are in a hole now after two grand final appearances with Simpson.

It was just Bevo’s turn for a few weeks and the likes of Cornes and Barrett are desperate to square up with him. You’re up Fages.

Form in the first month means very little, we fall for it each year. Bevo will be fine.

Rounds 5-8 is a better predictor of where teams are really at, once all the cobwebs are shaken off and everyone's had a chance to get used to the gameplan under pressure.

If The Dogs want to contend again (with or without Bevo), they have to take one step backwards to go two steps forwards.

The good news for them is this is a great season to have a couple of first round and second round draft picks, but as I said before, their national draft record for the past few years has been very average, if not ordinary

Busslinger was exactly what that needed, unfortunately probably still 12 months away from playing in the AFL.

We lost our gun recruitment manager to Sydney, Austin was an understudy that Carlton took, it probably hurt us more taking our senior assistant coach late last year than Austin. We have had our hands tied with JUH, 2021, and Darcy 2022, Weightman was our pick in 2020, he wasn’t a f/s, although we have one this year. What draft picks are you referring to?

So Naughton going back?

Is that a success?

No he just went back to ice the game for the last few minutes. It would almost certainly be a success if it happened , but would it be a Pyrrhic victory?

Wisdom of crowds

Poll looking accurate

Same old with Beveridge. Weird selections, strange moves on field. Relies on emotion to get the team up for a game. Makes for an unpredictable team

The last 2 weeks have been in pouring rain though so it's hard to gauge where the team is at.

Our fixture starts to ease up a bit through the middle of the year. If we aren't ahead of the ledger by say round 12 I'd be worried for him.

Let’s be honest though. Bevo had a falling out with Dalrymple (our gun recruiting manager) who has gone to sydney and continued to find guns. That issue has caused the very problem Bevo now finds himself in. Should have stuck to coaching and stayed the **** out of list management. He is still sitting in the trade room in November fighting for a 4th round pick we won’t use…

**** him off and use some of his coin to entice Dal back home.

Dunno about Darymple.

Our last two drafts have been awful.
