They’re trying to lock him away before the season starts.

A season that will go a long way to making his decision if he leaves or not.

Maybe they want him at a certain price, or maybe they don’t have confidence that they can keep his focus if the big offers come and they don’t start well.

If it's us I would take the compo. It will be better than our late 1sts. By the way if he joins us it will be because we finish well above 6th or 7th last (not saying we will be a good team next year). Why would he join a team that finishes in a similar position to North.

You seem to be able to convince players (Houston obv). I agree with you, can't see how you will outperform us from 2026-2032.

Agree North should be good soon and should be better than the average aging list that Collingwood has. But there is more to a team than good potential players. Some teams just keep popping up to finish top 4. Over the last 20 years Collingwood has done that almost 50 percent of the time.

Yeah have experienced both sides of the argument. It comes down to your good players actually performing week in week out. Yours do, ours did 25 odd years ago, makes a hell of a difference. Can see you making the 8, not sure it's in your best interests but definitely wouldn't surprise. If you can keep your best players fit and spine on the park- who knows? Houston in, should be handy.
