He did very well for himself last night last night I have to admit, although the head ducking was not to my liking.

What happened to Sam Mitchell though? He seemed a bit off last night, running into tackles almost blindly, he didn't seem at his best.

Certainly held on to the ball too long at times - not giving the first, and correct, option. Sometimes I think he tries too hard to show what he can do (baulk, kick left foot) rather than just doing what needs to be done. Can sell himself and his team mates into trouble.

In my opinion they should've moved him to the midfield a few years earlier.

Having said that his game at half-back probably won us a premiership, so I guess I can't complain.

Just a fantastic versatile player who is all class on and off the field.

I'm sure he would have if we had anyone who could hold it together in the back half. that was where he was needed at the time for the team. playing in the middle may have got him more personal plaudits, but I think hodge is the last person who would care about that if it meant his team lost...

All class.
Especially loved the helping Roo to his feet thing after there argy bargy on the boundary line last night.
Has all the tricks and leadership qualities that any other player has had in the past 20 odd years. You'd follow him into uncertain danger and trust the guy to make good decisions in the heat of battle anywhere anytime imo.

Easily the best player in the competition.
chris who?

You have to bring Judd into why? Can you not be happy that Hodge is a top line player, does it matter if another player or players are as good, better or worse. Who cares who has the best player in the comp at the end of the day only one team and there supporters smile come years end. If the Hawkes win the flag this year does it matter who is the best player?

Because a lot of society are shallow petty people sadly.

I'm sure that Judd has been "brought in" because the 2 have been compared since they were flamin drafted

Loved the clearance on the wing v multiple saints.

The long kick was in his general direction, and goddard (out of position) just wrapped both arms around Hodge without looking at the ball. Hodge dragged Goddard into the pack, and then swung him into the group, forcing the ball to spill (luckily into his lap), where he sprinted away from everyone.

I'm 99% sure his injuries have curtailed his kicking - whilst still good it's nothing on his earlier abilities) - but at the same time he's become a much more effective runner, and has regained some of the 'explosive' nature of his running/leaping. It might be a case of a more risk averse approach to his kicking, or perhaps he's lost that little 'edge' he had through the immense power.

Been down to the inner-sanctum at Waverley. Every single week he can barely walk, from Monday to Friday the lad limps around the club doing what he does best (Leading the team) and come game day he plays like he's the son of either Chuck Norris or Jesus.

L. Hodge=Superstar.

Expect a medal around his neck on September 20.

What you said.

Whilst I'm happy Hodge is showing everyone what a player he is, and is having a (far) superior season to Judd - you make an excellent point. If Hodge leads us to (another) flag, who gives a shite whether he's 'rated' as the league's best player, or not?

The difference between the best few players is so minimal you're never going to please everyone.

Hasn't had the fitness to play midfield 100% of the time and in 2008, he was needed in defence after round 17 to stiffen it up.

I liked his 2008 better, his kicking doesn't seem as consistently good this year. Obviously still playing really well though.

2 horse race for the Brownlow - Hodge v Swan.

Will go down to the wire..

Def not. Really good teams who will poll big number (Saints and Geel) could easily have a player already on 20 votes. Montagna, Goddard, Hayes, Dal Santo could all be on 10 or one could be 20. Like Ablett/Selwood. You never know with umps.

Re Hodge = Awesome. Along with Pav, Hayes, Swan, Judd, Roo, Browny, Buddy, Lake up in the highest of elite brackets.
