Exactly I pointed this out the other day. He will be targeted not for his off field stuff, but on field ability.Geez, if we’re eating him and spitting him out now, can you imagine what the West will do to him if he underperforms?
That is it. I want him. But he is 20 years old and I don't want to give him some ridiculous contract based on some potential he may have in 5 years time.Man, getting a scapegoat name before even joining the club, yeesh...
But in all seriousness, there has to be a way to shield ourselves here, honest conversations need to be had. I still want him, but on a wage commensurate to his actual output, not best case scenario output
Hell, I'd be ok with some ridiculous bonuses for like top 5 BnF, AA squad or Brownlow finishes but at the moment he's a 500k a year player, MAYBE. I'd even be ok paying 100k "change clubs tax" and pay 600k but more than that and it has Grundy level albatross potential. That is it. I want him. Plus whatever players we'd have to give up.
If he wants to come here, good. Sign him up for a reasonable contract that also doesn't involve giving too much away player or trade wise and let him earn his stripes. Then we'll talk big dollars.
If he's not interested then we'll knew where his heart lies. I've seen too many of these deals fall through recently. Dockers or otherwise.
Despite what happened over the last two weeks he also plays in a great team, we all know how that can make a player seem better than they are.
Get him, but be reasonable or just walk away.

campaigner can’t take a mark.Needs a big preseason running with Andy and Caleb. Had an almost game tonight with a few great moments early. His entire side looked ordinary in the second half – I wouldn’t want Clayton Oliver if we were basing our recruiting decisions on the second half of that game.
Fair.....but, his whole season has been crap. Oliver might win a brownlow.Needs a big preseason running with Andy and Caleb. Had an almost game tonight with a few great moments early. What you have written is what I fear. This is new Fremantle. It has worked great so far, I don't want to sell the farm for one player. We’re going to get ripped off. A few first rounders. A verbal agreement isn’t a written agreement.
It’ll be a shitty look if 3 or 4 players go and Jackson comes in with a fat contract. He’s a basketball player trying to work out how to play AFL ffs
This board has a habit of over reacting though posters were calling Walters a hack not to long ago.This. A visiting alien would assume Max Gawn is rubbish, too.
Still yay.
Wild thought……but how about not reading it. It’s a shit rag that is used by shit to wipe the shit off itselfGeez, if we’re eating him and spitting him out now, can you imagine what the West will do to him if he underperforms?
That's what I'd like to know but I doubt anyone really knows. What exactly have we committed to and how binding are those commitments?
Have you actually been listening to what the guys say when they talk on pods? they try to avoid reading media of all sorts about themselves, but can’t shut it all out and it does affect them somewhat. i think people forget that these players do live in a vacuum, they live in the same reality we do. And Perth is a fishbowl for these guys.Wild thought……but how about not reading it. It’s a s**t rag that is used by s**t to wipe the s**t off itself
Yeah, a bit like Tim Kelly nominating West Coast. It was suddenly out of our hands. I was disappointed at the time but look how that is working out. It’s almost at the point when you go for the toss in cricket & hope you lose because you dont know whether to bat or bowl. Almost at the point where if he says, no I’m staying, it’s taken out of our hands, no bad decisions can be made & we head in a different direction.
Watch precisely zero of those bookmarks surface.Okay, so this is the new vent thread? I’m doing a lot of bookmarking tonight.
Why the rush? It's a 7 year contract. If he gets it sorted in the first half decade all good.I reckon we're all underplaying the knee injury that he's been playing through most of the season.
Hopefully he can heal it up completely over the next few months so he can have a big preseason.
We seem to be committed enough to have destabilised our list, leaving a number of best 25 players in the dark regarding their futures. What exactly have we committed to and how binding are those commitments?
