"What do you see as Freo's 'needs'?"

A functioning forward six that is reliable and adaptable.

But, seriously, f&ck needs. I want this s**t. I want Luke Jackson to hit his prime in purple. I want Fremantle to have blokes who want to be here, winning s**t and having a good time.

But if it's needs you have to satisfy, I reckon with a forward line with Treacy, Amiss and Jackson as your talls you get pressure, speed, marking power and freakiness. All reliable kicks. All young. All want to be here.
Solid post.

I don't think Logue, Acres etc don't want to be here. I think they just want some more dollars in their pocket. I particularly feel Logue loves the joint.

One from left field but I'd like to see us grab some of the Academy kids this year to help with the forward line. Scaiff in particular, who is a KPF. Bourne and Williams have forward capabilities (I'd Cat B at least one of them) and Draper would be a nice developing ruck (Cat B at best though). Ideally, we get a pick to take Ben Allen's kid as well. He's an awesome size and will probably be a late/Rookie selection.

Point is, we can still make the draft work for us even if we trade out of the 1st/2nd Rounds.

What do you see as Freo's 'needs'?
In terms of list management framing it strongly from a "needs" lens might not be the fullest picture. In terms of list management, "needs" always gets shadowed by availability (you can need whatever you want, but if it's not currently available...). But in a broad sense, we always need more talent and versatility. If they can snag someone who can play forward, all the better as it currently stands.

Amiss is going at 2 goals a game, just turned 19 years old and a former pick 8. Don’t know about that.

Amiss is still a few years off physically - no doubt he'll develop into an A-Grade Key forward, note the word immediately.

Plug Jackson into our goal square next year, with Darcy doing the bulk of the ruck work, the kid kicks 40 - he is more physically suited to wrestle with Key defenders and has the ability to lead up.

Amiss will over take in time, but while this window opens, Jackson could be the chief beneficiary.

I am never wrong.

Why do posters continue to claim that Acres, Logue, Tucker, Meek and Lobb are leaving to bring in Jackson?

Lobb’s contract alone will likely cover Jackson’s.

Lobb GF wants to live in Vic
Acres wants more than 300k a year
Logue wants more than 500k a year
Meek wants more opportunity
Tucker wants more opportunity

I also have no issue with 2 late firsts for Jackson, think it’s more the $$$ offered.
O think we should be holding Lobb given Jackson is not a meaningful forward.

Trading the other players gets Jackson's salary.

As they are being played at the moment Jackson replaces Logue, but need to find more than Logue's salary.

The salary stuff seems pretty opaque at the moment. Secret Bell Business.

I know where I'll be telling him to stick that feather, if this unfolds how I think it might...

Yay for tackling hard, jumping high and making Nic Nat's mark count look a million dollars!

I'm more than happy to recruit him as a young developing tall who fits our age profile perfectly and who's shown glimpses of his potential to develop into a player of quality.

Not so happy to recruit him as a messiah big trade on big money for a big price. I'm more concerned about the inflated salary upsetting the harmony of our team than I am the draft pick cost tbh. There's only so many first round picks we can park at Peel indefinitely without losing them anyway.

I think it’s the fact that the draft capital is still negotiable, if the salary is locked in at 800k, yet alone any higher than yikes…
