Because they aren't bothering.
That's what I mean. If it is just a charade to keep us honest or whatever, you have to at least pretend you are taking it seriously otherwise its a complete waste of time.

Lol.
Whately arguing Jackson is now worth more than pick 3.
“2 and 20 would be perfect”
Good luck with that. Any team that has 2 is putting that up as an absolute max.

Even if he was actually worth 2 + 20 on performance, you still probably don't pay that.

Not sure why people are talking 2 first rounders for an uncontracted player. Same situation with Jackson as with Clark last year. We set the price that we think is fair, then negotiate around that. If Melbourne don’t like it, they walk away and try to convince him to stay.

No doubt he’s an extremely talented player, but he doesn’t fill the immediate void we have and I don’t see why the price would be as high as two first rounders.

I just hope Belly doesn’t think 2 first round picks is the fair price.

Jordan Clark was contracted too.

I garuntee they won't trade 2 firsts for Jackson. Some of the biggest trades recently for bonafide stars like Cameron Dangerfield Shiel all were for 2 firsts but also sending picks the other way.

Jackson isn't on that level of value yet. Pick 13 and what we get for lobb/acres with 32 coming back.

It's like he's a 3rd year Buddy Franklin in Twateley's mind instead of a bloke that I'd never even heard of until a couple of weeks ago.

West Coast are not in this. He wants to go to Fremantle. This is just dumb talk so that dumb football shows have dumb filler content between their Jordan De Goey circle jerk segment and the bit where the middle aged footballers sit around calling eachother s**t blokes and yelling about how their knees are f***ed.

Hopper, Dunkley and Taranto are each worth more than Jackson in trade based on their career outputs. But where is the noise that they are worth multiple first rounders?

13 + whatever we get for Lobb (or Lobb himself). If that's not enough, then let Melbourne see what they can get from WC and I bet it is worse.

Bell just needs to remind them what they gave us for Langdon. Shoe is on the other foot now.

Walk away from this entire clown show. It's not worth dealing with the pr*cks that are the Melbourne Football Club list management team. They've shafted us before, and they'll attempt to do it again. We don't need him, we don't need him and we don't need him.

With the tough list decisions and nasty rebuild that they're going to have to make if they aim to turn things around as quick as some (and too slow for most) of their supporters want: West Coast trading for Jackson would be beyond cataclysmic. You don't give up pick 2, or worse still 2 and 20, when you have to rebuild your midfield and important key position posts at both ends of the ground.

I kinda hope they do it. It would both severely delay them in the hopes of a dead cat bounce and it would save us from ourselves potentially.

Top 10 pick and a future first............get absolutely f***ed

Only peak Judd, Ablett, Dusty and Fyfe would warrant that. Not an unestablished, inconsistent, very average tall utility with no clear best position
I don't think he has no clear best position: I think his clear best position is in a position we already have someone better than him in so we'll be, once again, trying to reinvent the wheel to make the square peg go in the round hole for 40-70% of every game.

The Eagles are in a vulnerable position where they might do a schwabolly and get Jackson in for the hype. Prove they are a big club and give Trevor Nisbett a win.

We arent buying jackson based on his 2022 self guys.
We are buying him based on the premise he will be a top 10 player in the league from 2026-2032 or thereabouts
I have no problem with that, just to me that's a complete gamble and wouldn't be worth more than what we received for cerra who is a sure thing.

What would make sense to me is Jackson coming in to pair with Meek, and us trading Darcy.

I don't think that's happening mind you but it balances the club's investment in the position of ruck.

Darcy and Jackson makes for a significant over investment in the position.

Something a little crazy about this trade. Questionable.

Darcy played like a $450k per annum player this year. No certainty he will make the step up to elite level, he should but it’s not guaranteed.
Would be a good 6 or 7 rucks around the comp that outperformed him this year.

And Jackson wasn't one of them.

Would Jackson enable us to have Darcy alternate in the forward and backlines? he has an awesome mark
