You're right, but just to add more meat to this - pick #13 and pick #13 equals enough points to match a bid on a father son at pick #1 with points left over.
If we were to trade them pick #13 and pick #20 next year (North's F2 PP) then it's 90 points more than pick #4 but not quite to #3.
So I think a future second and our current first is basically the same as trading out future first to them with pick #13. But it's better if we just send them that pick #20 from North with pick #13.
I think a 'good' deal would be pick 13 and a F2. I think it may end up being pick 13 and F1 with a F2 or F3 coming back.
I hope we don't try to get inside the top 7 to appease Melbourne. If we do I hope it's literally a hypothetical pick 7 and that's literally it.
If it ends up costing us 13 and a F1... it's not a 'good' deal, but I'll be satisfied with the knowledge Jackson will play 10 years of football for us.
Well let's hope it is somewhere around the 13 and future 2nd with something coming back . I have not been on the melt thread this year let's hope nothing happens in the next two weeks to send me there
Brodie Grundy is a better player than Rory Lobb.
It’s as simple as that really. You can over think positions and how guys fit here and there, but at the end of the day Grundy is an elite AFL player.
I guess they like the two top end Ruck strategy… they will be getting Grundy for 600 or 700k too remember.
They are a bit unique in that two of the top 5 mids in the league are at every centre square bounce and so they are able to go deep in finals and indeed win flags with a forward line that other contenders can’t get away with.
On a side note, had a thought earlier that Erasmus isn’t that dissimilar a type to Clayton Oliver, it would be nice if he can develop into a similar player. There is something about Erasmus that is exciting, might be his fiery nature at the contest but he’s going to be a top player in a few years time.

Max is fed up with being bashed in the ruck and wants to spend more time forward by all accounts. Sounds a bit like Lobb. Bringing in Grundy as #1 ruck will allow that.

Didn’t even make the top 10 of Dees B&F. Bring down that price me thinks. They clearly don’t rate the guy even though played majority of games (22!!) this season!!!
It was interesting to hear that Chris Scott and Geelong don’t pay for potential, they will only pay for proven talent and believe it gives them a competitive advantage.
Of course they have far more options to trade in in terms of talent than the likes of us.
So I’d guess that means that they won’t be paying big $$$ to Henry or Bruhn
