Roo played more half back flank... but your point remains.

Goodwin also spent time off half back at times too I early years.

Way to miss the point.

Pedlar clearly has attributes that would make him a great midfielder, these examples show that there’s no reason to panic that he’s only playing small forward in his second year.

You don't even have the player they're talking about right.

We haven't drafted any midfielders higher, so what other eggs do we have?
Don’t subsequent posts point out for you that Rachele was played as a Mid in U16 before being drafted? Rachele was pick 6. Therefore we have drafted a higher ranked Mid (and like Rozee played him as a forward initially) relative to Pedlar, contradicting your point here.

It turns on thinking that they're correct and we drafted him for the guts, which I don't.

Playing as a mid in the under 16s doesn't reveal a whole lot. I'm sure he was often the most talented kid on the field.

He was the most talented kid on the field for the national championships as a midfielder. I'm not sure what else you could do to reveal midfield ability.

Except maybe midfield minutes in an AFL team in your first season, which also happened.

I suspect that we drafted him as a mid/fwd hybrid, which he has been used as in the nab league pre draft because of his value up forward. But with Rankine coming in, Rachele or Rankine could well become full time mids (or at least share a full time mid role).

So we absolutely have invested in high end mid options. But we absolutely should continue to invest in high end mid options, because we still need more.

At the risk of using "selective stats" again - Playing as a mid in the under 16's did reveal a whole lot to the Adelaide Crows National Recruiting Manager.

Further on - he talks the day after how he can play midfield.

Direct Quote:

"He's got a lot of what we like, and a lot of what we need. And that was a part of the ground we wanted to address with the power. Um so he can play midfield, that'll take some time have to build his engine up a bit"

Rachele was attending occasional centre bounces in his first half dozen games, while the team still had Crouch, Laird and Keays in there. That's a decent sign I think that the coaching staff view him as a midfield option in the medium to long term, especially since we very rarely varied the CBAs in the first half of the season. You could argue pursuing Rankine also supports that idea, but that one is more tenuous.

People sure do go the long way around agreeing.

Did you watch it? He speaks about his goal kicking, and refers to him as the midfielder-forward who had kicked the most goals.

Saying someone can play midfield in time is not the same as saying they're a midfielder.

Every year we always say our first round pick can play midfield, even Thilthorpe.

Like, I love Rachelle, but his best use and is not to be the centrepiece of a premiership midfield. We need to have a plan to build a battery of elite midfielders to allow him to damage in space.
And we need to bin our four man midfield rotation policy.

No comment on the U16 To be expected.

I watched it. He said the player listed as a midfielder/forward can play midfield when he builds up his tank.
