AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
100% agree - they are on the cusp of really challenging for the flag - and i do not think that this will help the cause. Good luck to them though, they will certainly need it.When will YCW learn. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that Paul Keating is match day coach.... They just seem to go in circles there and its sad cause there are some good blokes there that deserve better than what their micky mouse committee throw up to them year after year....
And that's an understatement! Horrible vibe around the club, no professionalism, bad reputation, how they could convince blokes to come out for not much money is beyond me?
Chalky has gone straight to the top....Luke Mitchell to follow him out to Hepburn
Brad Wickham to coach Bridgewater??
Mitchell lives in Castlemaine doesn't he? Hepburn Springs is a hell of a lot closer than Mitiamo is. Travel, along with a hefty pay packet wouldn't make that move a difficult one to make.
Did hear that; as a co-coach.
N Bell from Golden Square to the hillies and they will break the 150K mark in 2012.
Surely not?? I had heard that he was playing in Melbourne
Heard it from a Golden Square player.
funny how you didn't blink at the 150K comment.

If Pyramid have 150k to spend on players and want to spend it it in one whack good on them. If they have a go and spend it in one hit good luck to em. What really pisses me off is posts like yours is that not too many clubs have an infinite source of funds so if they wish to spend whatever theyve got ,who are you to start whinging. Most clubs these days can see that they have to plan for the future so i doubt if Pyramid would blow all theyve got in one hit. As far as Pyramid having that sort of coin,i dont think there is too many money trees growing on the salty plains at the Hill.Even though it will not help P/Hill to win a flag, the VCFL and local leagues need to look at a Salary cap for clubs, it is getting harder and harder for clubs to get players only because they do not have enough $$. If the $150k is correct (and i have no doubt that P/Hill would pay that much) for players then it is rediculous. some clubs do not have turn over of that much for a full 12 months. How are clubs like Inglewood meant to get themselves off the mat and complete again. It is getting worse each year and i strongly believe that it needs to either be looked at by the League exec or the VCFL itself - or both!!
I agree with you in that it is up to the clubs to plan ahead, however if clubs such as P/Hill who have spent $70k+ each year for the past 5 (and that is minimum) just on players and is looking at increasing it to a suspected $150+ then the league is heading for disaster - clubs that struggle will continue to struggle and then they will die. Why is it that a post that suggests the good of the whole league and not 1 particular club pisses you off. I think it is about time that people start thinking of the bigger picture. If Pyramid have 150k to spend on players and want to spend it it in one whack good on them. Your bone of contention it seems to me that Pyramid spends too much money on players, correct, Pyramid has a population of about 300 i think, if the committee there can generate the sort of dollars your talking KUDOS TO THEM,however teams like Inglewood,Marong etc with larger populations seem to struggle with finance and players perhaps they need to change how they operate.Dont get me wrong i am not advocating sides folding because it appears they cant compete however these things are cyclical sides will improve and some will fall down the ladder however finance or lack thereof will continue to be be discussed on forums like these by those who like to guess for a long time to come.I agree with you in that it is up to the clubs to plan ahead, however if clubs such as P/Hill who have spent $70k+ each year for the past 5 (and that is minimum) just on players and is looking at increasing it to a suspected $150+ then the league is heading for disaster - clubs that struggle will continue to struggle and then they will die. "those who like to guess". Like you "guess" you know what is going on at a committee level at clubs such as Marong and Inglewood?Your bone of contention it seems to me that Pyramid spends too much money on players, correct, Pyramid has a population of about 300 i think, if the committee there can generate the sort of dollars your talking KUDOS TO THEM,however teams like Inglewood,Marong etc with larger populations seem to struggle with finance and players perhaps they need to change how they operate.Dont get me wrong i am not advocating sides folding because it appears they cant compete however these things are cyclical sides will improve and some will fall down the ladder however finance or lack thereof will continue to be be discussed on forums like these by those who like to guess for a long time to come.

just look to our close neighbours in the HDFL, it's cyclical out there, Elmore, Mounts, Colbo, Heathcote and now Locky can win it and the rest of them are just making up the numbers. The LVFL is heading in a similar direction with it becoming biggest payroll and least amount of injuries winning (or best June pick up).
Not sure what you do to fix it, maybe it's going to take a Pyramid or Inglewood folding before common sense prevails (not suggesting they are the most likely clubs to go).
I spose at the end of the day it's upto the weaker clubs to draw that line in the sand and make the decision to get busy raising money, putting the rite people in place and having a crack. All clubs have the same capacity to raise money and target good players. It only takes one or 2 good recruiting decisions and the rest will follow. And that could be in the form of your president, football manager , coach and players. And I might add, in my opinion they are in order of importance. Once one or two clubs start leaping fwd, i.e PHILL and BWATER the others are forced to make that effort to follow. As youv quoted above 5 teams in HDFL are in the mix and probably this year another 1 or 2 will step up as well. But again that will only happen if the rite people are making the decisions off season.
I agree with Hellboy - great Post - are there any changes to committees particularly Presidents that we know of yet?I spose at the end of the day it's upto the weaker clubs to draw that line in the sand and make the decision to get busy raising money, putting the rite people in place and having a crack.
