Lynch seeks glove exemption

You are contradicting yourself, you state that if someone has an injury that isn't 100% they shouldn't play.

See strapping.

I specified a "banned glove"; they are banned because they provide an unfair advantage, and I further clarified this point earlier in the thread.

Strapping does not provide an unfair advantage; it is fine.

I maybe a little cynical here i bet he is sponsored by a manufacturer, given he throws the bloody thing on the ground when he shoots at goal.

You're really good at reading between the lines that aren't even there
Surely the "glove" in question gives Lynch some super powers. Both the Chinese and the Russian's have shown unprecedented interest in Lynch's glove and the US are putting pressure on the AFL, via the Federal Government, to get these types of glove off the streets. The Catholic Church, through George Pell, long contended that the use of such gloves is explicitly forbidden in Bible text and that they pose a serious threat to the family as we know it.
Human Rights advocates have come out in defense of all persons right to put their hands wherever they wish so long as they over the age of consent and the glove,or any other object or piece of apparel is a willing participant. Prominent right wing talk back radio troll, Alan Jones said on air yesterday that; "while it's all well and good, existing gloves be given the chance to be useful, it is not the right time or policy to let any new gloves into the country especially those which arrive on charters ex-fishing vessels during this inquiry." Jones later admitted that he had on several occasions, whilst coach of the Australian Rugby side, worn several gloves, separately, but clandestinely.
Bona refused to comment as he is still embroiled in a tumultuous legal battle over his allegedly stolen hat.
The Dalai Lama expressed his concerns for the other glove, the discarded member of the pair, calling them "the forgotten gloves."
Asked to comment, Ban Ki-moon could only offer "people are dying all over the world and the AFL are in a flap about gloves. FMD!"

Sighh. He doesn't even do that anymore.

There are two types of gloves available to players; gloves that are banned, and gloves that are not banned. So if gloves that are "not banned" are deemed to "not be suitable for Lynch", then what type of gloves remain?

I presume he's seeking approval to alter one of the 'not banned' gloves to use on his freak fingers.

Though I am also curious why he can't just tape the fingers without a glove.

That's all I'm asking for. I just want to have players be forced to deal with an injury in a manner that does not give them an edge over anyone else.

All of the banned gloves were put on that list because they were deemed to be too "sticky", so I really cannot see why he can't use a regular glove (or none at all), simply because the only difference between being "banned" and "not banned" is the level of grip that the glove provides. If Lynch refuses to compromise by using tape and/or a modified (if any modification is actually needed) "not banned" glove, then we really have to question whether he genuinely needs one of the "banned" gloves, or if he wants it for another reason.....

Do you know this for a fact, or are you once again talking out your ass?

This is clearly hard to believe for you, but this actually requires a little more than tape and any old glove to fix.

So the helmet had some form of neural implant that vastly increased his footballing ability, regarding how effective he is at "going for the ball head first"? Or am I mistaken?

Please enlighten me as to how a helmet provided him with an unfair advantage.

If you had been wearing a helmet like Burkey, your head injury might have been so much less severe

Screw that, I'd seriously consider getting that cut off if it was going to be like that for the rest of my life.

It's going to ache like a bitch when he gets older too.

This could be the biggest load of bullshit I've ever seen, just let the man wear the glove that he wants/needs to wear and be done with it.

For **** sake, it's not performance enhancing drugs, who really gives a crud?

What an absolute beat up.

This sort of rubbish is ruining the game... what next, loose silky footy shorts are helping teams win, bring back the painted on stubby shorts?

Piss off!

I think Q needs to get his finger fixed, surgery may not make it perfect but I think modern medicine can improve on right angle joints.

I think the problem is he needs to modify the glove and anything outside the standard would be illegal automatically.

Also that finger is horrendous

I think the problem is he needs to modify the glove and anything outside the standard would be illegal automatically.

But how much can you really alter a glove. I thought the illegal aspect is the grip on the glove, and maybe extra thick material, I dont know. Surely altering a glove so his finger can fit in it has to be allowed.

Yes he does. The reason a glove is banned is becouse it provides extra grip. If it does not provide extra grip it is nto banned. So the statement "simply because the only difference between being "banned" and "not banned" is the level of grip that the glove provides" is in fact correct.

Now there may well be other differences in individual gloves designs that provide a difference in Lynch's case. It may well be the case that only one brand of glove provides the required level of protection. If this glove is banned due to it also providing extra grip, then tough.

I have no problem with him using the glove of his choice - the pic above is shows there is a good reason. Common sense does not always prevail at the AFL so this could go either way.

The point is any mod should be illegal. Otherwise you could wear a latex doctors glove and put superglue on it and it would be legal.

Now obviously Lynch has a valid reason for the mod ie a finger that looks more in place in Frankenstein's basement, rather than that. If he gets the exemption and the glove is checked pregame it should be fine.

I know for a fact Eddie Betts uses his shorts like a spinnaker when he plays, ban them
