Lambert claims historic third club best and fairest​

Collingwood midfielder Jaimee Lambert has been presented with her third Collingwood AFLW Best and Fairest award having been crowned the 2022 winner on Friday night.

Congratulations to Lambert. She's a super star, of not only our club, but the whole AFLW competition. Well deserved..
 
What's happened to our VFLW side?
They couldn't lose a game in 2020 and 2021, after being Premiers in 2019.
Now they are getting beaten comprehensively in their games.
Today they were absolutely smashed by Essendon.

Acquired some injuries today. But yeah, we aren't as strong as we have been.

Does feel that way. Though I do think you have to have a certain number of vflw listed players given the comp is for them.

I liked some of the work of Dojiok today but seems more a tall forward. Don’t think we get priority access to any of our VFLW players.

Yeah, I liked what I saw of her as a forward. And no, we don't. Goes into the draft like anyone.

True, the draft is the traditional way of getting onto our AFLW list, but considering we won't have Bonnici and Davey for the new season starting in August, they would be placed on the inactive list l believe, allowing us to promote two players from our VFLW list that we like, as replacement players? if they don't get drafted by other clubs of course.
This season we replaced Lin with Meagher from the VFLW, didn't we, prior to the season starting.
I was hoping we had a couple of talented young mids hidden away in our VFL program we could elevate.....

The draft will be held and then those players could be replaced if they are confirmed as out for the next season.

Who knows what the available talent will look like after 120-160 new players are brought into lists.

I suspect any inactive player replacements are likely to be fringe quality and the likely Davey or Bonnici replacements (if required) are likely to be younger players given a greater stint onball freeing up flanker and pocket roles elsewhere.

I do love seeing the young girls coming through. They have had the benefit of more complete exposure to playing footy through their junior years.
