If it is campbell brown than we deal with it and move on, hopefully we get a reasonable deal out of it, if rumours are correct on SEN chris tarrant is a massive chance to be heading to the hawks next yr so we lose a senior player and gain one at the same time.

You would have to imagine that we would get same deal as Adelaide got for Bock. Same Age, both All-Australians, to get anything else would just be plain wrong!

Heart or Head. Triple M's Damien Barett said Tarrant is going to the Hawks however, 3AW just said Carlton are into him. If we could get him I would be happy because Gibbo can be freed up with some vital run from defence.

But still Browny is a wonderful player- he goes in hard from the first bounce to the final siren doesn't matter the margin. And i think that is why so many Hawks fan will be very sad for him to leave

Carlton are massively interested in Tarrant. It'll be interesting to see where this falls. Whispers say he wants a club that's in the frame for a flag...

Carlton will be desperate for tarrant, they need him more than we do and will give up more than we will for TAZ, they donot have a KPD, i would not like to give up a limb for him, given his injury probs. After all we have another TAZ in lewis.

Damn, i wish we traded dowler for good currency last year....i know, hindsight!

Added to that is Carlton's salary cap situation which looks like this:

I seriously hope we never get Tarrant.

I reckon that'd be a terrible move. He's 30 and he gets injuries.

I think we just need to have a mini-rebuild next year as we develop shoe/lisle/milne and some pacey midfielders, even if we miss finals. It'd be better than another mediocre year finishing 8-7 without any development in our younger players.

Brown going is kind of a blessing in disguise. Frees up salary cap, opens a spot for a younger bloke, and gives us another pick to toy with.

He should be classed the same as Bock. Pretty much same credentials but instead of Browny having a b+f he has a premiership.

Absolutely Shattered :(:(:(
But on a side note, wondering what you guys would be willing to give up for Tarrant. Maybe a draft pick, but i think Freo would be asking for more than that.

It would be great if we could get Tarrant, but i would rather have another outside quick player in saying that Rioli, Hooper and Peterson to play more up the ground next year with full pre season, a good year could be ahead, Bring on 2011! Go Hawks!

If it is Browny, good luck to him. We've had great service from him and he loves the club. Can't see that ever changing. He deserves some retirement money and to be in the sun :)

Happy thoughts people Happy thoughts, it could be one of the Lions players or a player from Carlton, Hell it coud even be Abblett, Yep Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts..............................................................
OK I'm threw with Happy thoughts, i'm just going to go die now:mad::mad::mad::mad::(:(:(:(:(

Thought his performance on Saturday was fairly pathetic. At this stage of his career it's no great loss and you may even be over-compensated. Always hard to lose one of your club favourites but I think it will work out well from an on-field perspective. I never bought the tough guy act anyway.

I would also be staying away from Tarrant for reasons mentioned above. Still a fair bit of youth around from the '08 team so it boils down to whether you are aiming to get lucky and sneak a flag in the next year or two or set yourselves up for a period of dominance in a few years time.

Regardless of his performances at times you can't deny his passion for the club. Absolutely shattered if it's him tomorrow, gotta retire my guernsey now.

If it is Campbell and it probably is... good luck to him... great servent of the club and has been inspirational at times. Will definitely be missed... but to be honest... his actual position in the 22 was always a "horses for courses" kind of situation. I mean he has great games and poor games... and in the last 2 years... he has had some pretty poor ones. No one doubts his courage and hardness... but ball usage is pretty poor at times

Love browny in the back... but if using his compensation, we are able to get tarrant... i am all for it. Tarrant will add a lot to our backline... and we will have someone who can play on the gorillas.
ALL FOR CHRIS TARRANT!

So long, and thanks for all the fish

Will be missed, had a great heart, and always stuck up for the boys against the Scum in particular.

All the best at the new club if it is indeed him. Can't blame a bloke for thinking about his future and taking a much more lucrative contract. A 4 year contract worth perhaps 500k a season would set him up until he's 31 with some pretty hefty pocket money. A 2 year deal at the hawks worth, say 300-350 would leave him at 29 and if he doesn't have great years, he would struggle to command much money at all when out of contract so he's doing what's best for him.

Well, it's clearly a Blue or a Hawk. I'd say it is 99% likely to be Campbell Brown.

Sad to happen, but I've expected this for the majority of the year.

The Age is already announcing it...

Brown set to join Gold Coast
September 7, 2010 - 12:00AM
New AFL club the Gold Coast Suns are set to announce on Tuesday they have signed Hawthorn tough nut Campbell Brown.

The out-of-contract Brown was a premiership player with the Hawks in 2008 and was part of the Hawks lineup who lost their elimination final to Fremantle at Subiaco on Saturday.
