The simple fact is that mental health workers are some of the most over-worked health professionals in the country with a lack of trained mental health care workers to deal with the spiralling demand for their services - particularly for those without the financial capacity to pay.

Given he apparently left Brisbane and came to Sydney a month ago and was a rough sleeper, it’s quite possible he did not have any current mental health treatment. If he had no support and had perhaps stopped taking medication or engaged in drug use to self medicate, the situation could have escalated dramatically. It’s quite possible there was no way for any mental health professionals to predict this.

Although of course police will be checking all this.

But sadly this person's views are widely reflective of posts that have flooded social media and the feedback columns of mainstream media. It's not just trolling but dangerous lies aimed at inciting hatred.

Yep, an interstate relocation certainly complicates the situation but he will be known to some mental health service/practitioner. I'm not blaming anyone, just think that this will be a priority for investigators to see if any red flags were missed or handover not acted upon, imo.
