I'm going to take Rowan Marshall with my next pick, as good as Max Gawn's year was last year I reckon Marshall was probably slightly better and could have easily been All Australian. Can take a contested mark, win a clearance and gets involved in transition as well as any ruckman in the league.

BlueTongue

Good pick. Definitely looked at him. My idea was to grab one of the upper echelon elite players and an elite key back (well, after TDK went). I've ended up with a player on the way to elite, but not a proven midfield commodity yet and my 4th choice key defender. You sit there thinking that one of your top picks will be there and none of them were.

Guess this is a small modicum of what it feels like to be an AFL list manager . Sucks to see a player you really wanted disappear right before your pick.

I have been Weitering and Heeney, Heeney and Weitering for days now with my picks 5 apart. Was trying to get a read on which one to take first and the likelihood of the second one being there. Then bang bang, no longer an option. Settle for Sam Taylor ... no you won't. Revert back to age profile and class and get Hayden Young, maybe a little early, thinking Mac Andrew on the return journey, then have to start cycling through quality key talls and take the younger of the remaining guns.

I feel like I've just taken 3rd rounders with my first 2 picks.

Temporary sugar hit, but man ... watching so many players come off the list. I had to change my second pick probably 12 times.
Taylor, Hogan, Stewart, Marshall, Harris Andrews, Heeney all on my list….time to start looking at some * players 🤮

Surely you can scour the VFL first?

Yep I really wanted one of Weitering/Taylor/Andrews. I do have a 4th option I like but now trying to predict whether he will make it to my 3rd pick. Not fun...

It kind of shows you the dearth of elite options in a position that many think you can manufacture with discarded forwards and late draft picks. It's a matter of how you want to anchor your side. Go KPD, and you miss the elite mids and KPFs ... and rucks ... forget about it. You're weakening every other line with every selection you take.

Looks like I won't be taking Balta with my next pick after all :p

He'd be a good selection too. We could do that as an exercise, but not for the actual judging, which I suspect there will be no clear cut winner for. Can't let injury and suspension decide it.

30 picks before I get my next pick. I plan on panicking and ending up with Joel Amartey and Harrison Petty as my tall forwards.
