Dale Tapping- new and a development line coach. I'll give him the same courtesy and time we gave Mark Neeld, although Neeld had coached successful teams in his own right. Tapping has not but as I said, I'll give him time.
Tapping won TAC coach of the year in 2010 and won the 2011 Premiership for the Sandy Dragons.

It was always going to end in tears, particularly when both now so heavily involved in the media.
You sometimes just have to say stuff in the media and woops, its you the supporters that are left scratching your heads, because it will upset the playing group, coaching staff and in general, dare i say it,vibe around the club!.
Win the next few and you guys will be back on track.
I always liked Mick and liked the way the Pies played and wanted you guys to beat the Cats last year!.
Not trolling or brown nosing:).

That and continually saying Malthouse was burnt out and lost passion to coach which clearly Malthouse disagrees with.

Besides hes in the media now and is entitled to offer his opinion on aspects of the game, in this case Collingwoods new gameplan etc.

McGuire is only protecting his love child in Bucks. Its getting pretty pathetic now.
and this

Mick can say whatever he bloody wants, he's not at the club anymore. Eddie however should just STFU. This is probably the first time I've actually been angry with Ed as well.

The thing I find funny about all this, is that all the fans seem to be angry at Ed, yet all the media people are actually in support of Ed.

Who would've thought we would live to see that day.

Even Robert Walls has thrown his support behind the club.

SEN commentator Robert Walls said this morning that he hoped Malthouse could get over the pain of being replaced as Magpie coach.

"At the moment, he's hurt, he's bitter... he will be the loser if he continues doing this for the next 12, 24 months."

Walls mocked claims by former North Melbourne champion Wayne Carey reported in the Herald Sun about a rift between Buckley and Collingwood players as having "no substance".

"Be specific or shut up... Nathan Buckley deserves better than that... unless you're prepared to name names, shut your mouth."

Walls says despite Buckley having been an assistant coach under Malthouse for two years, it would take at least 12 months for Buckley to get to know his personalities of his playing roster.

He said he expected Buckley to coach Collingwood for 10 years. "He's well prepared... the wheel will turn."

Wouldn't trust Robert Walls as far as I could kick him.

Kudos to Ed for sticking up for the club, and the coach. Mick should leave it alone and let the club go its own way. Enough of the public crap.

Speaking on his Triple M breakfast radio show this morning, McGuire said he loved Malthouse, but the veteran coach "wouldn't have a friend at Collingwood today... he hasn't missed anyone".

Eddie needs to be told himself does not equal Collingwood football club.

Here's what should have happened ...

Eddie invites Mick for a few drinks at the Diamond Creek tavern.
They order pints of Carlton Draft.
Eddie asks Mick how Nanette is doing.
Mick tells Eddie that Nanette is doing well, then asks after Carla.
They order a few more pints of Carlton Draft.
Eddie tells Mick that Carla is doing great, then asks after the grand kids.
Mick tells Eddie how cute the grand kids are. Mick asks after Eddie's kids.
They order a few more pints of Carlton Draft.
Eddie's kids are really enjoying the footy clinics!
Eddie asks the barman for two shot glasses and a bottle of schnapps.
Mick hesitates, but after some coaxing he downs his shot. *Eddie slams it.
Eddie then looks into Mick's eyes ...

Eddie: "I love ya Mick..."
Eddie continues: "...The*whole Collingwood family loves ya Mick..."
Eddie shrugs his shoulders: "But unfortunately, ya not at the club anymore..."
Eddie is downcast: "...and as much as I wish you were still here, the fact is, ya not."
Mick looks down.
Eddie talks into space: "So I'm gunna have ta move on, the club needs to move on."
Eddie refills the shot glasses, and downs his; Mick follows.
Eddie starts again: "Here's what's gunna happen ..."
Eddie continues: "I'm gunna tell the world that you were a grouse coach!"
Eddie looks at Mick: "Ya know why I'm gunna tell 'em that?"
Mick shakes his head: "Nah, why?"
Eddie: "'Cause it's the goddamn truth!"
Mick: "Thanks Eddie, appreciate that."
A pair of shot glasses get filled and downed.
Eddie: "And ya know what else I'm gunna say?"
Mick looks a little suspicious and a little wobbly: "What Eddie?"
Eddie: "That ya busted ya a**e for 12 years for this footy club and ya now stuffed."
Mick: "Well, I dunno Eddie ...
Eddie: "... to which you're gunna say that ya enjoyin' having a well needed breather."
Mick: "... Well, I dunno about ...
Eddie: "C'mon Mick ya've earnt it mate. Nanette's earnt it."
Mick: "Yeah, but footy is all I know, it's my life mate."
Eddie: "Exactly! Give ya self a break from it. *Go explore the graves of Fromelle. *Take Nanette to Paris. Come back to the game energised."
Another pair of shots are downed.
Mick's nodding his head sagely: "Yeah, not a bad idea I suppose."
Eddie: "It's a brilliant idea Mick, lock it in."
Mick chuckles.
Eddie: "Another thing Mick."
Mick: "What's that?"
Eddie: "I wise man once told me that if ya stand still ya goin' backwards."
Mick smirks.
Eddie: "Collingwood's not gunna stand still or go backwards mate. There's gunna be a lot of change."
Mick shrugs: "Of course."
Eddie: "Now I know ya can be a bit touchy, and I don't want ya taking offence if we start dismantling the house that Mick Malthouse built."
Mick: "Oh, c'mon Eddie ..."
Eddie: "Nah, look, there's gunna be tough times for the team ahead, we both know that..."
Mick nods.
Eddie: "...and when things get tough, people are gunna start asking ya questions ..."
Mick shrugs.
Eddie: "... and when they do, ya have a choice."
Mick: "What's that?"
Eddie: "Well you can choose to make life easier for us or make life harder for us."
Mick: "I dunno about that."
Eddie: "Well, I want you to think about that."
Mick shrugs.
Eddie: "And I know that as a legend of our footy club, surely ya don't wanna make life harder for us."
Mick: "Course not!"
Eddie: Great! I love ya mate. Now I think ya should seriously think about giving Nanette and your good self that decent holiday to Europe. Hell, go for six months - go away for the whole winter."
Mick: "But I'll miss the whole footy season!"
Eddie: "Nah, ya won't miss it at all when ya over there. Look, I'll tee ya up with some top places to stay. I'll have a chat to Emirates about getting ya a short term contract at Arsenal - you'll love that!"

Never liked that egomaniac in Malthouse but he's entitled to defend himself.

You're having a laugh. How is he defending himself? Who has come out and attacked him? Just have a look at the salient facts mate. Has Buckley come out and gone... Oh I've inherited a dud team... Or has Eddie come out said... Mick ruined this club?

No.

Mick is having a go when he shouldn't be, and should cop all the flack he is getting.

Why doesnt Eddie just stfu? Why does he always have to say something before even Mick started saying stuff, Ed would just say he came up to me and told me I am done ( which I think is false) and then obviously Mick would get asked the question and answer it. Eddie started the whole thing, I want him to refuse to answer any questions about it from now on or it will just drag out and people will laugh at us.

I love Ed for what he has done for the club but haven't always been a big fan of the way he's handled certain issues in the media.

However I'm glad he has come out strongly in support of Bucks. Mick is the past and no longer an employee of the club. Did Mick mention that Bucks has a list riddled with injury at the moment? No. Yet he defends Neeld. Time to bury the bitterness Mick, otherwise you may well be remembered for the wrong reasons at Collingwood.

I loved Mick as a coach but was happy for his time to come to an end and fresh blood take over. What disappoints me is that it will be hard to gauge Bucks first year because injuries have already ruined 2012. Clubs just don't recover from our pre-season and first 3 rounds of injuries. If we make the 8 I'll be really pleased.

when we got told the game plan was not going to be significantly changed they lied - I for one don't like to be lied to. Carlton beating us is no surprise - they were coming up the ladder last year, its the way they beat us that makes me filthy

Hang on a minute, who's telling porkies? Mick insisted last year, in the face of criticism that we didn't use the corridor enough, that players were always encouraged to do so.

But anyone with eyeballs knew that was bullshit when Buckley chipped one inboard and was stink-eyed, pointed at and absolutely baked at 1/4 time.

And on the club telling us lies about the game plan, why on God's green earth would we be revealing the detail to the membership for a tick of approval, and in the process letting all and sundry know too? I still can't believe Neeld powerpointed our game-plans in his job interview with Melbourne!

Finally, the game plan was picked apart by Hawthorn with their chippy kicks and Geelong with their zone breaking kicking skills. A few others appeared to have been finding us out toward the end - Brisbane and the Dogs almost had us on toast in the latter half and we were lucky to steal one early in the season V Adelaide with a 10/11 goal final qtr. The plan couldn't last as Mick conceded himself, so a change was inevitable.

Alright Hawthorn fan who knows what the 'club' think...

Malthouse is an absolute w***er for what it's worth. Just a real child.

So after 10 years at Collingwood, Mick has no friend there? Not one? I think that would reflect pretty badly on Collingwood.

After Watching the Panel Shows, Except his Attack on Swan and Tarrant from Last Years GF, I don't think he was having a Go at Collingwood or Bucks he was Just Speaking his Mind

Mick Fail #1: Criticising key team players that have given him so much of themselves and such a proud legacy.
Mick Fail #2: Inconsistency: Neeld and Watters get warm reviews from him, not the negativity he reserves for Bucks.
Mick Fail #3: Betraying his bitterness about his removal, especially through the "Davis would still be ther" line, and burning bridges at an ex employer.

I like the guy, life is too short, he should move on, open a new chapter in his life.

The Media will make this thing worse than it is with there Stories to try and Destroy the Collingwood Football Club and The Idiots lovew it.

How about the Media ****s Off and let us work it out by Themselves

You know Eddie is part of that media.

No he wasn't having a go at Bucks or the club but at the same time, he wouldn't take any heat for the fact that we got worked out.
I think this had a lot to do with MM's work on the Footy Show last year and incidents regarding his treatment of Buckley during 2010 and 2011. Eds taking his chance to pot Mick in the media.

The stuff about Leon Davis still being there if he was coach was the clincher for me. What's the message behind that?

MM could of got Leon to sign for Less Money?

I do agree he not 100% sincere on that he is saying as I pointed out him not taking any blame for the 2011 GF Loss

I think Leon was done and dusted. He'd played in 4 GF's for no wins, 30 years old, the prospect of a grueling pre-season, family issues and so on. I thought MM was overrating himself when he said that Leon would have stayed if he was coach. That was a thinly veiled slap at the Pies.

Anyway, Ed said that not 15 minutes after the GF, Davis said he was going home.

Oddly, nearly everyone in the media and most here believe it reflects pretty poorly on Mick. What would a Hawks supporter know anyway?

Whilst few here believe that Ed is enhancing his rep by responding, the simple fact is that Mick has made it clear that he is bitter. Against that background is it any wonder that his blaming of the players and the umpires for the GF loss and other comments he has made about the game plan are seen as an attempt to undermine the club or Bucks in particular?

Some here clearly love Mick and that's fine but it is what it is. He has made it clear that despite incredible support over a long time, he is bigger than the club. The club gave him a 5 year option at a time when many inside and outside the club were calling for his head. That we went on to win a premiership on the back of some pretty audacious recruiting is incidental and those who believe that you can simply reverse a deal of the kind that was in place fail to recognise the fall-out from such an action. I suspect that there is also some overplaying of Mick's role too although you must give him some credit. This is in stark contrast to what Mick has done in return.

It is fairly clear to me now after having seen the goings on over the last 6 months that it is Mick's ego rather than Bucks' that prevented a working relationship between the two. Any man who can absolve himself of blame for a GF loss in the way Mick has brings into question his own credibility. His failure to take any responsibility reeks of a super ego and an inability to accept criticism.
