Will this Conspiracy board Covid thread be moderated just like the Covid threads on SRP/GD etc boards or will there be some leeway given? After all this is a conspiracy board and shouldn't conspiracies be allowed to be delved into without the threat of bans for thoughts/posts against the mainstream narrative.

Discussion of vaccinations should not be something that needs rules at all. Rules around abuse etc. fine but no opinions around discussions of health should be off limits. As someone posted earlier if you can't question it, it's not science it's propaganda.

When the responses are simply lies that are getting more traction and becoming a danger to people's safety then no, we don't need to tolerate them. When the lies are being spread by dangerous grifters and neo-Nazis then no, we don't need to tolerate them.

With respect to anti-vaxxers, why not let them post their views? If their views are non scientific then others will be able to debate, debunk or dismiss so no harm done. Your argument that it's dangerous misinformation can't be true because if it's misinformation it will easily be debunked and therefore not dangerous.

Unfortunately the anti-vaxxers do not respond to debate. They want to spread their misinformation unchallenged. They want to swamp communication channels with shit. They are not after a discussion or the truth. They want to spread lies for their own reasons.

We are not allowing that to happen here.

Of course, that's a broad brush. Some people will change their minds. They can share their concerns and people can show them the facts.

I just want to be clear about this: it is settled.

Right now, on the available evidence, vaccines do a great job. They are not perfect, but they have saved millions upon millions of lives in the past and will continue to do so. This is fact.

If you do not believe this at all then you are an anti-vaxxer and need to sit down and listen. The anti-vaccine message will no longer be transmitted through BigFooty.

All we are quibbling about now is new (real) evidence, the specific numbers and conditions that show or affect actual vaccine effectiveness, how to respond to the pandemic, what is fair, what isn't and so on.

Also, hasn't everyone on here got a mind of their own? We are all capable of sifting through the various arguments and making up our own minds.

The very nature of a discussion forum is opposing views, to shut down certain views because you don't agree with them is counter productive and the debate, debunk or dismiss process is eliminated so there is no way to advance our collective knowledge.

I am shutting down the spreading of anti-vaccine lies. Not "certain views". Lies. Misinformation. Damaging messages that are now having real world consequences and are being used by grifters and neo-Nazis to build their followings.

I don't care if someone talks about how a ghost entered their kitchen at night, made them a ciabatta loaf and left it on their kitchen table. It's absurd but outwardly harmless.

I do care if someone uses BigFooty to send the message "don't get vaccinated it changes your DNA". Because it is a damaging lie that people are getting sucked in by.

About the only person to actually post a conspiracy theory about covid on this board is me (That being that the left are using taunts to make the right feel like cucks if they take a lifesaving vaccine or wear masks therefore killing off a few hundred thousand inbred good ol boys in strategic seats) yet all anyone wanted to talk about is their fear of needles and paranoia about side effects that effect one in ten million.

If you want to use this place as a channel to spread dangerous misinformation then, if you don't stop on the direction of a moderator, you can leave.

Go back to basics: the default position of science is "we don't know".

You cannot point to one specific person and say "they were 100% definitely saved by a vaccine".

You can point to a vaccinated person who survived a stint in hospital with Covid and say "they were probably saved from worse affects, maybe even death". I am sure data can show that a person with X co-morbidities and Y physical traits of Z age would almost certainly have died but for the vaccine. But you can't be 100% certain.

You do not even need to be 100% certain.

You can point to a population and say that based on data and modelling, there is a numeric range we estimate were saved by vaccines.

Don't be hung up on the NEED to be 100% certain about an individual member of the population. Look at the whole picture.

And that's for a discussion on censorship. It's a deep topic and I encourage you to start a thread on it - with a sincere desire to explore the question and the responses of real thinkers.
