We need to remember that the rate of survival has been and remains at 99.+%.
Which is great.

But if my son's school has 2000 students, how do they all feel about 20 avoidable Covid deaths?

And that's for a discussion on censorship. It's a deep topic and I encourage you to start a thread on it - with a sincere desire to explore the question and the responses of real thinkers.

Right now you have to deal with the rules and moderators on this site. That's just the messy reality of life.

If you're scoffing at the very right of mods here to determine and apply rules, then you're in fantasy land.

Rules are great. If they were properly applied that would be the answer.

Again, you and M Malice should start a thread on the philosophy of censorship, cultural norms, codified laws, policing of laws, and so on. It's a very very interesting topic.

But you'll find no home for the idea that on BigFooty we are not allowed to make rules or that they must be (or even can be) applied with robotic and unwavering consistency. We're all humans. We don't do that sort of thing.

Here's the breakdown of deaths by covid for Australia. Children haven't even cracked a mention and so I would allay any fears for your children.

COVID-19 registered deaths by age and sex (a)(b)(c)(d)(e)
90+
Age (years)MalesFemales
0-59157
60-692615
70-7010355

Warren Tredrea is an anti vax heretic >

Tredrea, a four-time All-Australian who played all 255 games of his AFL career for the Power including captaining the side’s 2004 premiership team, previously described himself as “pro-choice” when it comes to the Covid vaccinations.

Speaking on the radio station earlier this year, Tredrea shared that he believed in was an individual’s right to make their own choice.

“No I’m not, I’m fully vaccinated … but I’m not Covid vaccinated,” he said in September. “Everyone is entitled to what they want to do because it’s your body.”
‘Do your own homework’… Dr.Tredrea.
All the brightest scientific and medical minds vs conspiracy theorists, yoga teachers and youtube ‘freedom fighters’.
Easy path to choose…

There's one or two deaths missing from that table.

OK so you now understand that "99% survival" is inexact. It is higher and lower depending on circumstances.

Re small pox

The risk of death after contracting the disease was about 30%, with higher rates among babies.[6][12]Often those who survived had extensive scarring of their skin, and some were left blind.[6]
And nevermind that the vaccine was administered for 100+ years. The tagline for covid should be "just two centuries to flatten the curve".

You know about smallpox vaccine anti-vaxxers?

You know about the uneven distribution of vaccines?

This shit is hard to eradicate. It takes effort. Money. Time.

Do you think it shouldn't be that hard? So do I. But anti-vaxxers keep ****ing it up for us all.

The makers of the small pox vaccine didnt do a better job then Pfizer have with Covid vaccine?

I think we can undertalk the accomplishment some people made when comparing it with today.

If you are talking about age as a circumstance why yes. We have always known the aged are more susceptible, whereas children were not. Indeed right from the beginning we were told because of this fact that children had no need to be vaccinated.

Early on was a long time ago
Things change as we know more

What does this even mean?
Look at vaccination drives in Africa being hampered by Catholic bishops spewing conspiracy shit. Someone wants to complain it takes so long, they have to accept that anti-vaxxers delayed full vaccination and eradication.

testing of the jab and approval for kids, the variant, the urgency , the infection rates of the young

They have approved vaxxes for kids. I wonder on what basis. Are you talking about Omicron? Seems to be doing what is the usual process for a variant, in that it becomes more transmissible but less deadly. The urgency seems to be a feeling, a vibe which some people are susceptible to and others not.

Vaccines weren't all created equal. Far from it. Collectively lumping them together is beyond idiotic.

We have a situation where Moderna's gene therapy treatment is beyond scrutiny on a conspiracy forum.

Yet it is the first product this 11 year old company has ever successfully brought to market. Think about that for a moment.

Every other product has failed, including their flagship treatment for a rare and debilitating disease known as Crigler-Najjar syndrome.

''But the Crigler-Najjar treatment has been indefinitely delayed, an Alexion spokeswoman told STAT. It never proved safe enough to test in humans, according to several former Moderna employees and collaborators who worked closely on the project.'' "Unable to press forward with that technology, Moderna has had to focus instead on developing a handful of vaccines''.

''But mRNA is a tricky technology. Several major pharmaceutical companies have tried and abandoned the idea, struggling to get mRNA into cells without triggering nasty side effects.''

''The indefinite delay on the Crigler-Najjar project signals persistent and troubling safety concerns for any mRNA treatment that needs to be delivered in multiple doses, covering almost everything that isn’t a vaccine, former employees and collaborators said.''

''Three former employees and collaborators close to the process said Moderna was always toiling away on new delivery technologies in hopes of hitting on something safer than what it had. (Even Bancel has acknowledged, in an interview with Forbes, that the delivery method used in Moderna’s first vaccines “was not very good.”)''

''In order to protect mRNA molecules from the body’s natural defenses, drug developers must wrap them in a protective casing. For Moderna, that meant putting its Crigler-Najjar therapy in nanoparticles made of lipids. And for its chemists, those nanoparticles created a daunting challenge: Dose too little, and you don’t get enough enzyme to affect the disease; dose too much, and the drug is too toxic for patients.''

But look people, whatever you do don't question Moderna's first ever experimental market product.
