Are there any specific things you need to do to get 3 star rating? I have a few 2 star ratings, but wasn't sure how I could do any better to attain a 3 star rating.
I know some of the rules.

Basically in each race, there are secret 'missions' so to speak that you must do.

You need to win every race. You need to have decent lap times. You can't get hit by items (I think you are allowed one or two, including blue shells) avoid POW blocks when possible, do tricks when you can, stay on the track.

I've done it twice, as stated, but I can't do it again. It's pissing me off bad.

But 3 star rating gives you nothing, except bragging rights. :p

I know I am in the wrong thread, but anyway, I'm having trouble with Super Mario Galaxy with regards to the Good Egg Galaxy...I don't know what I have to do to complete the level, I just keep on walking around collecting gems or whatever they are and hope to see light at the end of the tunnel...Could anyone help me out here..?

What do you mean you can't complete it? Perhaps you've got all the stars you can get at that point in the game. Otherwise just look up on the internet there are much better places to look like www.gamefaqs.com . Look at the name of the star you're trying to get for hints.

Thanks for the reply, I just completed it about half an hour ago and also unlocked another couple of galaxies in the mean-time...Really liking the game now...:thumbsu:

I finally got 2 more 3 star ratings, 50cc and 100cc Shell Cup.

I was surprised I got it for 100cc, as I didn't think I raced that well. But with 50cc, had I not gotten 3 stars for that, I reckon I would have broken down and cried. I could not have raced any better.

It's near impossible to get 3 star rating for 150cc though, you'll have won every race up until the last, and on the last lap of the last race, you'll get screwed, and finish 8th, giving no hope for a 3 star rating.

Yay. I got my 7th 3 star rating.

Words of advice... race like you have never raced before.

Still yet to get a 150cc one though. That is a prick to do.

mario kart 64 IMO is better then MKW

dont ask why either, i just really enjoy the drunking times playing MK64... even to this day we do that, lol

anyone who wants to verse me online in MKW msg me

You answered your own question why MK64 is better, its down to the fond memories.

I have wonderful memories of MK64 too and even fonder memories playing MKSNES, much fonder thatn the ones I am making with the Wii version, but saying that the SNES version is better is ludicrous.

So many improvements on MK64 and anything excellent was kept.

My only gripe with MK Wii, not nearly enough shortcuts!!

Saying that, can anyone tell me of any shortcuts in MKWii aside from the ones in these tracks?:

Mario Raceway 64
Ghost Valley 2 SNES
Mario Circuit SNES (shit one)

I have tried to hit one on Rainbow Road to no avail...

On Wario's Goldmine if you follow one of the mine carts to the left you'll get a shortcut.

There are a lot of shortcuts that are just using mushroom boosts (or star boosts) across off-road terrain. The two dessert tracks are great for this (get a triple boost and basically fly over the windy hilly part)

Also did you know on Mario Raceway 64 (mario circuit I think it's called) that you can do a trick off the end of the pipe to get a boost.

On Mushroom Gorge if you boost (I'm pretty sure you need the boost) out to the left you'll land on a mushroom and it's a mini-shortcut. It's right near the start/finish line.

Also the biggest one I remember is in Delfino Square where you boost right across the harbor right to a jetty.
