These look to be the 4 main candidates at the moment for our #3 pick in the pre season draft. If given the choice who would you take?

For me, in order of preference:

Shane Harvey
Rupert Betheras
Mark Bolton
Phil Read

Shane Harvey could be anything or nothing and is worth a punt in my opinion. Ive seen him in most of his senior games with Essendon and was suprised he didnt get anymore game time. He's a crumbing forward which we're crying for and should be a late developer like his brother.

Rupert Betheras is a battler but is hard at the ball and will always give 100%. Short term fix but that is what the club is obviously looking for after getting Holland. I wouldntve traded for him but for free he still has a bit to offer.

Mark Bolton in my opinion is an average player. Versatile but not much else. Most Essendon supporters would tell you the same. I probably wouldve had him above Betheras if it wasnt for the price tag on his head. Won't be devastated if we picked him up but I won't be celebrating either.

Read is hard at it but just another half back flanker which we have plenty of. A backline of Holland, Nicholson, Broadbridge and Read would be a disaster waiting to happen.

Bolton has signed with Essendon i believe...if we go Shane Harvey maybe we could get a year out of him then trade him to the Roos next year. Then probably Betheras, a couple of years out of him will let our recent draftees develop.

I havent heard anything about the Brisbane delistings but Shane Morrisson is another option. Got very little game time at Brisbane which you cant blame him for with Brown at CHF.

Of all the players listed in this thread

Harvey
Betheras
Morrisson
Bolton
Read

Not interested at all in Copeland or Tallis.

Shane "im better than my bro" Harvey...or "sook" Harvey is bad news for any club bar North. He is fast and skillful but he lacks a defensive side to his game. Doesnt have his brother's tremendous work ethic. The fact that he has been moaning about not playing seniors ever since he got to essendon shows he has a poor attitude.

Let him go to north...they could use another average footballer

The bits i've seen of Harvey have impessed me, however the comments above are a real wake-up call. Leopards don't change their spots & Harvey obviously has delusions of granduer.

No thanx:rolleyes: He must be crap if Don fans want him to go to North...

Please not Read! Aren't 73 half back flankers enough? He has his good points but we can do better.

$800,000 over 3 years for Bolton? Bomber fans worldwide are still in stitches over that one! Pay him what he's worth, no more! If he's available...

Betheras is a real chance.

I reckon we're forgetting someone...

Maybe we have the wrong half back flankers.

Walsh tries his guts out and is courageous but that's about it.

Ward is similar to Walsh with a bit more pace and skill and is dangerous enough when he's free close to goal.

Brown, well, I like his courage but he makes a truck load of mistakes when coming out of the back line.

Williams, aaaggh!

Read has a little bit of all of these blokes, although lacks a bit of pace now, but is much harder at the pill (and the bloke carrying it).

From what Essendon people tell me it would be better to see Harvey running around somewhere else than playing for us and wanting to run around somewhere else.

Has copeland quit or been delisted? didnt think he had. He played in brisbanes premiership side i think. How could you put read ahead of him. Has anyone actually seen him play? Judging by everyones comments i dont think so.

hille aint i am pretty sure and if he isnt then he will get a contratc pretty soon from the dons

bolton wont be a dee now but rawlings will proibably ask for a lot so dogs dont get him

but the dees could probably get him before the roos since we also have space

We don't need Hille, but would of course take him as the most valuable commodity if he was availible. The Dons would move heavan and earth to re-sign him though.

I like Corey Jones, and would love to see him at the Dees.

Ray Hall is a very average footballer IMO, but we've got to take the best availible and he might be it.

Does anyone know if Notting has re-signed?
