Look at James Hird and Thompson

Yup they believed they were innocent

Hmmm who knows

If they had just plead guilty and take pen a whack early on none of this would be happening

They would have been back in the AFL within a year or two

Both are now mental train wrecks ....

Lawyers use drugs
Doctors using drugs
Police use drugs

It knows no boundaries ...trust me I’ve seen so many diverse people use .....

It’s not just homeless people sleeping under benches using drugs ....

Agree with this. I think a lot of people will be genuinely surprised how many people take drugs. I mean who isn’t a coke fiend these days? :grimacing:

There were some episodes of 360 the last couple years where you'd watch him and go hrmm.

I just thought it was his usual demeanour and shrugged it off
Who knows what he and Robbo got up to pre show.

That’s it. I’ve seen the most random people jump on, at the most random hour.. you wouldn’t pick it. Casual drug use culture is huge - and casual turns to every other day to every day pretty quick.

Yup a ceo of a company is just as vulnerable as homeless person

I deliver drug talks to community as part of my role .....I make this point

You sound like someone who has experience in this area... like a drug counselor

Wasn't there a big story not long ago about Channel 7's CEO doing hard drugs? And Channel 7 parties having a drug culture? On top of having an affair.
Not sure didn’t see that

People on high incomes are under pressure

They can afford good drugs

They use for relief

Hey my job is darn stressful but I wasn’t a user turned counselor ....stuff that. . Barely drink

Rather post random stuff on net

bad call Garry.
Maybe Caro..
He has always been an odd ball at any interview.
Looking at this interview again, even in the light of what we now know, it just seems like a regular Bomber performance. He has always been regularly irregular.

His best hope is to get a VERY good lawyer to argue the charges down to possession and I presume he has a clean record and says that the trip to the US was to go to rehab, etc, etc, etc.

But that also may require turning on bikies / drug dealers who wont take kindly to it.

He’ll get a substantial fine marignalised to his annual income and a community corrections order for 12-24 months - possibly no conviction if he snitches and I doubt he’ll snitch someone heavy based on the charges so who knows who he rats

I just wonder if his personal business deals were facilitated illegally ie he got into that area with the wrong crowd rather than fell into it through his habit

Much to play out
Im not judging the bloke because Im 100% in favour of the complete decriminalization of all drugs- people should have the right do whatever they want with their own bodies in a free society, be that drinking kale smoothies or free basing crack cocaine.

However Im not the one that will be judging him and unfortunately County court judges have a very different view indeed.

The quantities he has been charged with allegedly possesing are stratosphericly above 'personal use' territory.
They equate to around 300+ deals of Ice and 500 or so Ecstacy tablets (or 5000 tabs if he ends up getting pinned with the rest)
Its hundreds of thousands of dollars worth.

Hes in a world of shit

There are obvious flaws in your "generosity". The mind-altering nature of many substances often has way too many adverse ramifications on innocent people; not to mention the user. We are not in a free society to live without mores, regulations, even traffic lights. If you value human life at all- and that is my job- we are way better off with guidelines.

If he is found guilty of all/some charges, what's the likely outcome?
Depends. He's been charged with drug trafficking but I suspect his legal team might argue to have that downgraded to drug possession. If convicted of trafficking, he'll probably spend quite a few years behind bars. For the time being though he's been granted bail paying a $20,000 surety and he has to report to Police three times a week.

Being a high profile figure though, it's just as likely that he'll get a slap on the wrist, disappear to the US to go in rehab and we won't hear from him for a very long time.

Personal freedom comes with personal responsibility, if your actions affect anyone else adversely then you should be held accountable.
Im certainly not advocating the use of drugs (except weed, which does not belong in the conversation) and consider Ice to be hideous garbage.

My best mate is locked up for the next five years for doing unbelievably stupid crime while off his face just to get more cash... to get more shard... to get more off his face.

Junkies of whatever persuasion should score off health professionals who have no interest in getting them coming back for more and every interest in getting them clean.

How long has this been going on for those in the know???

What I do not get is apparently he was rich from property beforehand or was that related??

How the hell did AFL associates allow this to fester???? Someone had to suspect something...

If this is true clearly there are obvious quality control issues!!!

This is up there with the Carey scandal but its more serious with more serious ramifications for any potential victims!!!
