List Mgmt. Marsh going home for personal reasons

Why this rule that a club must pay 95% of their cap? What if your list is young such as ours? Does this mean some players should get over paid to meet this rule?
You can adjust and front load contracts to meet the cap minimum. It's actually advantageous if you're looking to land a big name as we supposedly are in the next season.

I don't think he is trying to railroad us. I believe he has geniune issues he needs to deal with. Some things are bigger than what is in the interest of the club.

Heard he had Family Problems back in WA that has made him Ask to Go Home

Hopefully after the summer of love...he can return, all fired up & ready to go.
Maybe he can preseason with a WAFL club & spend some quality time working on the issues.

If he says he won't consider staying in Melbourne or returning, I have no issue in delisting him, but I sure as shit wouldn't be releasing him from his contract. He can get permission to play WAFL, but I'll be damned if we allow a player to railroad us in to delisting him so a competitor can pick him up for free. It sets a horrible precedent.

That opinion is far too ""black and white" for me.

Another competitor will pick him up for free either way. Either this year or next.

In the meantime we will be one short on our list (in a department we are desperately short of anyway) should we decide to keep him on the senior list. I'd rather replace him straight away rather than pay him to play WAFL for a year.

So has there been any statement from Collingwood or Marsh et al saying exactly why he wants to return home or is everyone running with BF rumours?

Try reading the thread and its quite clear.
Try directing me to the page that answers my question or better yet a link that does so. That'd be much appreciated. Thanks for your help Timmy.

Theres no link. Its quite clear therefore that it remains speculation at the moment and that no official decision or announcement has been made.

I haven't seen anything official other than a release from the club that Jonathon Marsh was heading home for personal reasons. Everyone initially took that to mean that he had requested a trade, when it actually seems that he has just requested to return home.

After trade week, I thought he was either going to get delisted, or placed on the rookie list. It seems this hasn't happened (although it still could as there are further list lodgement dates still to come).

My best guess is that they are going to keep him on the senior list on minimal wage, and allow him a year to deal with his issues. In the interim, I dare say we will seek permission to place him on the Long Term Injury List and promote a rookie. Mason Cox, Josh Smith and Josh Thomas will all be on the rookie list and available for Promotion.

We'll probably be going in with a senior list of around 39, which means that if Marsh is placed on the LTI, we could promote 2 of these guys instantly, and save a fair bit on the salary cap.

Nothing official though, so all will be revealed in due course. It may well be that the club is simply waiting to see what is on offer at their later picks in the draft.

Yes, it would have been "quite clear" if I had a masochistic desire to wade through 30 pages of rampant dribble - something I tried to avoid by asking the question in the first place. So thanks for "clearing" that up eventually.

Cheers! Who'd have thought that BF posters would jump to conclusions like "depression", "homesickness", "money", "personality clash"...... and turn it into pages and pages of speculation, finger pointing, character assassinations etc?

Where did all the mental illness and depression calls come from anyway?

Seems that there have been guesses made which have morphed into presumed facts.

Read the thread would have allowed you to decide for yourself. Apologies if youre too lazy for that.
As I said, I'm not a masochist - why is it so difficult for you to provide an answer to a simple question? Are you like that in general life?
"Hey Timmy, is Reid playing this week?"
"Read the paper and find out or are you too lazy?"
"Hey Timmy, did you use all the milk or is there enough for coffee?"
"Go look in the fridge or are you too lazy?"

Side by Side .........
