Only three take aways for tonight imo:
1) Cj is a good footballer and has earned a spot in the side r1 (in my opinion)
2) our kicking efficiency is a big concern through two of our big midfield pieces (Worps/JOM)
3) our tall forwards and our smalls are gonna take a bit of time to gel.

Bring on round one!

I worry that our take the game through the middle at all costs game plan is going to leave us horribly exposed on the turn over

Reckon Morrison gets the Hardwick spot over CJ. Just more assured with ball in hand.

We clearly took the foot off this quarter, I wouldn't worry too much about this 'blow out'. Some dodgy skills by us most of the night but that will clean up once the season starts, I'm not too worried after this result.

Pulled Patton & Puopolo off early & then Lewis got injured, wouldn't stress at all.

We didn’t even have the foot on the pedal the whole night.

Considering a lot of players playing tonight are trying to cement a Round 1 starting position, it was a pretty disappointing game. Pre-season or not, its a pretty poor performance because there are starting spots up for grabs.

Most Hawks just didn't look like their head was in it. Hope Clarko just rips into certain people. Sic needs a rocket up him because he looked awful tonight.

Hope the injury to Lewis isn't too bad.

I know its pre-season etc. But gee I find the skill excecution and clearance work concerning. Really hope there is a switch to flick.

Very astute observation.

Do it well, it cuts the other side up.

Miss one handball in a chain, turn-over kills.

And we missed a few more than one tonight...

I've been wondering about this. To be honest, I think Morrison was decent for us tonight, but I can't see him as taking a lock down defensive roll.
Cj is more aggressive and offers a lot of leg speed from the back end.
I'd like to see Morrison getting rotated through the outside mid/ wing slots throughout the season.

You like losing? This is 2020 not 2014, they’re not good enough to just turn it on. This is a bottom four side.

Losing what? A pre season hit out still trialing structures and giving some players one or two quarters of game time?

Definitely devastating. Probably a good time to start resting players for 2021

Do people on here genuinely rate hanrahan?? Confuses the hell out of me that we didn't look to get some zippy small players over in the off season our lack of pressure we put on the ball carrier is non existent .

I'm not sure where we are at but game plan and skill wise there isn't much to like , in both marsh games there wasn't one clean passage of play I can think of .

People who say: "It is just a pre-season game", have a point. But I saw enough tonight to be worried.

Melb would have won by at least 50 points if they had 2 decent forwards, let alone Gawn playing only 2 quarters.

McEvoy, Ceglar, Frawley, Bruest, Burgoyne all looked composed with the ball (our 3peat players). My worry is our lack of skill across the park.
