I'd throw the dice and play cj round 1 over Harry.
And terrible one on one.
Look I take the good with the bad with Harry but with great trepidation I will say I can't handle his softness, plays way to safe with the ball in the air, has improved his attack on the man when ball hits the ground.
Give me CJ if I have to make a choice.

Let’s just hope we got the s..t off the liver tonight because there was NOTHING, repeat NOTHING to get any comfort from. We were abysmal in EVERY aspect of the game. It was a joke frankly !!!!!
An utter joke !!!!!!!!

Yep, the purpose of a pre season game is to work on systems and build confidence. We didn’t do either. Was one of the worst skilled games I have ever seen.

Hard to gauge much from this match but will take it on its merits even if it is a preseason game.

I sense a different outfit will show up for rd 1 but gee its hard not to be a touch concerned.

A few points:

negatives:
- our lack of small forward defensive pressure is concerning
- yet another small forward gets off the leash. Brisbane has an arsenal of them which is a real worry.
- our execution/method into our forward line looks dismal and doesn't appear to have improved
- skills as poor as i've seen in quite some time
- we look slow at times
- wingard, stratton very poor.

positives
- johnny patton looks great, will only get better
- scully looks like he's in for a super season
- Chip Frawley, great game
- CJ simply has to play - adds spice to team that lacks a dynamic player. What he could offer with 50 games under his belt is exciting.
- Mitchell another match under the belt, getting better each game

Above all, pretty disappointing but a few players look disinterested. Particularly with Gawn off after half time, our inability to exploit an undersized 18 yr old ruckman, then rolled pretty handsomely in the end was really disappointing.

No alarm bells yet, we went to Adelaide last year and steamrolled a cocky Adelaide outfit. However, we'll need to improve off the map to roll a strong Brisbane side.

I didn't see any of our forwards making leads to create space for the other forwards. Our stagnate forward 50 didn't seem to have any system at all, any design.

Anyone who’s played footy would know once you’re out there you’re giving it a crack, practise match or not. Now I doubt we were 100% clocked on tonight but you’d imagine for the most part, being our last pre season match that’d we’d want to give a good account of ourselves. That’s the disappointing part, we just didn’t do much right at all.

Round 1, the G, against a good side we will lift I have no doubt, whether we are good enough is another story.

One thing you can guarantee for round 1, there will be no complacency going into the game.

all of our midfielders butchered the ball repeatedly tonight. Never seen it so bad. That isn’t normal so we‘ll look past it tonight

i had a sense that the positioning of players all over the ground is still somewhat unsettled and hence the cohesion is lacking

CJ looked okay in the last but I’ll temper the enthusiasm as he was fresh in comparison to his opponents. He has had a good pre season though and must be in the frame for round 1

Best on the night were Frawley, Ceglar and Scully

Surely it is not that black and white.
Look from what I see, Melb have a little crap on the liver from last season and have been given the rounds of the kitchen all summer from the media, they don't have the luxury of a suck it a see preseason if they want to change the narrative.
Not saying that we are under a substantiality less pressure to turn things around from last season but we aren't media wise so from what I saw tonight was far less but busting and more about minutes from our boys.
Should results, game style and effort remain the same after three or four games into the season proper then I'll be as narky as the best of them.

Good ol tassie games eh... 👎🏼🤮

Appalling game to watch.
I can honestly say I didn’t get excited once and actually had a little nap before half time to mid way through the 3rd before closing out the last quarter with 10 mins to go.

not pumped

🤷🏼‍♂️

That last quarter we were just kicking in hope and it kept landing in a cluster of Demons. All looked a little pointless from Hawthorn's point of view after 3/4 time. And as crap as we were playing, i found it kind of strange to see Hawk players laughing. They looked unconcerned.

Zero effort in that back half.
Its almost as if there was nothing on the line

Agree, a very dissapointing game from us.

The biggest thing to me was we had very little poise, always rushed and no real control.
Wingard seems to hardly ever have time and space.
Big Boy might work back but seems a waste.
Burgers I think found it hard playing forward so much better behind the ball.
Punky had a good game in the end but looked slow and unaware especially early.

I think Nash is a lock for r1, never loses a 1 on 1.
Patton seems to always look sore.
Cegs had a good game be good if he keeps sticking those marks.
Worpel just had a shocker in my opinion, rarely happens.
Anyway at least we get a kick in the arse instead of thinking everything is rosy...

We clearly took the foot off this quarter, I wouldn't worry too much about this 'blow out'. Some dodgy skills by us most of the night but that will clean up once the season starts, I'm not too worried after this result.

Pulled Patton & Puopolo off early & then Lewis got injured, wouldn't stress at all.

Love your optimism. Patton Poppy and Lewis were hardly making an impact before being pulled off.

our structures were horrendous tonight and our kicking skills worse.

Do people on here genuinely rate hanrahan?? Confuses the hell out of me that we didn't look to get some zippy small players over in the off season our lack of pressure we put on the ball carrier is non existent .

I'm not sure where we are at but game plan and skill wise there isn't much to like , in both marsh games there wasn't one clean passage of play I can think of .
We did try to get Jamie Elliott.
