So Sherman is Smith that makes sense,

I wish you would stop dismissing bad comments as if you know me,

I am mearly saying after 47 touches maybe you need to be given more credit.....

Maybe confidence is down after the stasse hit sherman i am not sure??

Everyone knows who i am Luke, some of us dont need to hide behind an alias like others...

You just go back and warm the pine as you have been for the skipton two's most of this season...:D

Drop it and move on...This thread does not need to be filled with rubbish like the Bendigo and Ballarat threads...

I haven't had a good look at the draw but Talbot have a tougher run than Maldon. Talbot have to win and win well to have a chance of playing finals!

In answer to who will do the most damage, I dont think any of the top 4 would feel comfortable playing any of Maldon, Harcourt or Talbot in an elimination final! Harcourt have experience but are struggling up forward a bit this year. Talbot and Maldon probably have the personnel to win a final but are both down on form and confidence. Still anything can happen!

Tips for this week:

Avoca v Trentham - Self explanatory. Avoca by 130 points.

Maldon v Talbot - Both teams not in great form. Head says Maldon at home but I have a feeling that Talbot might be more desperate for this game. The loser will more than likely miss finals, for Talbot it will certainly mean no September action so its a much win. Talbot by 24 points

Dunolly v Creek - Self explanatory. Dunolly by 110 points

Rovers v Brook - Danger game for Brook and one that they desperately cant afford to lose. Should be too strong for Rovers. Brooke by 30 points

Newstead v Harcourt - Harcourt back to playing reasonable football but Newstead should be too strong at home. Newstead by 36 points.

Pretty close assessment although i think Maldon will sneak past Talbot at home. Harcourt must win at Newstead to have any finals hope and it could be close although Newstead should come away with the points if they play like they have been. Rovers are capable of an upset and could shake Carisbrook although you would expect a Brook victory. Other 2 games will be massacres with Creeks only hope that Dunolly may not have full list available and While Trentham are improving Avoca will smash them.

Once again its the time of the week where we try our hand at predicting a couple of winners...

Avoca v Trentham - Avoca will win this game for sure, but it will just be a case of by how much (100 points plus should be a given)?? Another quirk to this may be to see if Bellenger bothers playing some of the guys that may be feeling the effects of a pretty gruelling season and freshen the likes of Field, Pilgrim etc up.

Maldon v Talbot - I really have no idea who to pick in this battle to keep their finals chances alive. Maldon have been poor of late but have a pretty strong nucleus of players with the Carrols and if Kelly fires they generally win, but Talbot too have been out of touch for a side that promised so much early in the year beating Newstead and coming close to the other top sides. Playing on the postage stamp may give the Dons the edge, but a win to Talbot won't come as a suprise either. MALDON just.

Dunolly v Creek - Dunolly will smash the Creek at home... As with Avoca though they may see this as an opportunity to rest Motlop, Ahmat and co.

Rovers v Brook - I don't subscribe to the theory that this is a danger game for Brook. They had a pretty ordinary couple of weeks mid year but they are back with 5 in a row or something like that and are not to be discounted come the pointy end of the season. A much better outfit than Rovers and should win this comfortably.

Newstead v Harcourt - Harcourt have found a bit of touch of late and are making a charge for that remaining spot in the finals... their strength is definately the midfield with Hutchison, Pavlou, and Carmicheal but the lack of forward options may cost them against the stead. Newstead too have a powerfull midfield led by Oxley, Ford, Starrit and Barkla, but also have an ubundance of goal kicking options with all of Reece, N Webster, S Webster, Brown and Culvenor amongst the goals of late. This depth accross the ground should get the Roo's over the line in a tough and physical contest.

Something that may help the predictions for the 5...

4th Carisbrook - 36 146.61%
- Rovers
- C Creek
- Maldon
- Rovers
- Avoca

5th Maldon - 32 148.18%
- Talbot
- Dunolly
- Carisbrook
- C Creek
- Bye

6th Talbot - 32 146.49%
- Maldon
- Rovers
- Bye
- Newstead
- Harcourt

7th Harcourt - 32 125.49%
- Newstead
- Bye
- Trentham
- Royal Park
- Talbot

From this you would think that Brook are certainties with 3 almost certain wins, Maldon have a shocker with 2 of the top 4 and Talbot, Talbot have three pretty tough games and a bye... so the smokey could well be Harcourt who apart from Newstead (who they are not without a chance of beating) have a bye and 3 winnable games, which may just see them sneak into fifth spot!!!

Bad day for the Steaders yesterday going down in both the seniors and reserves to Harcourt!!! The day started badly with Oxley pulling out along with Culvenor and got worse with injuries to Starrit, Brown and Tom Reece early in the second half... taking nothing away from Harcourt though, they were first to the ball all day and ran over the top of a sluggish looking Newstead side.

Talbot's win may have ended Maldons run to the finals also, making it a race between them and Harcourt for fifth spot... will be great to see them play off in the last round!

Heard a big rumour today from a very good source.
Dunolly are in the process of signing Dean Rioli for the 2010 season as he, like Ahmat, is another one of Shannon Motlops good mates.
Huge news for the league and Dunolly if this is indeed true.
Can anyone confirm or deny this??

Dunolly a late push to be the new western sydney side and be licenced as the 18th afl team?

Deny. 2010 is a long way off.

Caught up with a few mates from over the Malort Plains tonight, Steader
could you set the record straight as to your game at Harcourt, there thoughts were is was to do with player payments or lack there off. They believed a few may have stood out until they were payed. any truth or just piss talk??? I found it interesting the whole page of the footy record today for Newstead was dedicated to netball hardly a mention of footy.

That is your normal dribble talk as the only player missing was Ox who was injured and they got injuries during the game. They were simply outplayed on the day by a more committed Harcourt. The Newstead scribe apparently has been working away and didnt get a report in. It would be a slur on the club that has always ensured all player payments are made reguarly as promised. Get some interest out the actual games instead of promoting bullshit

You may call it dribble talk Frustrated but its only dribble talk when its about your club. I was only asking for a comment not stating it to be fact,
as i said the players i where with were on the piss. I believe they thought the statement to be true thou, as it has been talked about at most clubs
over this way. Having played Harcourt the week before, you must admit, if you had a full strength side. It was a HUGE turnaround in form for Harcourt, but as you said you must have been totally outplayed!

You must have very little to talk about over there if you going through this type of crap and yes Harcourt did play well and Newstead played poorly which can happen in footy and i dont think the bye helped Newsteads attitude to the game

Well Puma you got your comment and you didnt like it.
As for it being dribble talk it doesnt matter what club it is about when uninformed people get on here and cast doubt on clubs with no knowledge of what the truth is. so Yes it was dribble.
As for payments at newstead i would think that the payments there arent as large as some other clubs, the players get paid weekly and i wouldnt have thought that anyone you were speaking to would have been a newstead player.
The record was mostly Netball as the netballers are a major part of the club and deserve to be highlighted every now and then. Plus there wasnt a lot to write about in the footy
As for the Harcourt game Ox was out and a Culvenor and Bastin only played 3rds as thay have played 2 games every week all year and the bodies were sore.
It turned out to be one of those days where we had a bad day with lots of players down and Harcourt turned up ready to play.

FACT - Newstead pay thier players (which would be well below most clubs as they don't believe in overpaying players) on time, and on a weekly basis

FACT - Newstead played very poorly against Harcourt, and being that they are not a bad side you can't afford to do so.

What happened to Talbot on the weekend, are they in a bit of trouble with a tough last couple of games?? Maldon too seem to have done their dash after loosing and being 2 games outside the 5 would be no chance for finals after bursting out of the blocks early in the season...

Very interesting to see the fight for third spot really hot up, and it probably won't be decided untill the final round of the season - Brook can't loose to any of Maldon, Rovers or Avoca to have any chance and Newstead have to beat Royal Park, Talbot and the in-form Dunolly to keep it...

Big last three rounds!!!!!!
