It was another great game between the two sides for the second week in a row... Oxley was massive for Newstead as was Danny Barker constsntly driving them forward, and McNamee would have had to have got over 30 touches again for the Eagles!!! Both sides were at full strength and neither left much in the tank.

Bit of an upset with Harcourt winning over the Brook on Sunday too... They could scare a couple of teams still, and Dunolly would be no certainties against them this weekend!

Are Avoca still favourites to win on the weekend, or do people think the pacy Steaders will get the points and a berth in the GRAND FINAL???

Im not sure whether you could call it an upset, Harcourt have been in really good form lately and hitting top flight at the right time of the season. A very dangerous team for any of the remaining teams to play IMO.

who do we think will win this weekend of matches?
It will come done to fitness and injuries. Dunolly should have enough class to get over Harcourt but with a number of players looking proppy last week fitness of key players is vital for them. Harcourt are playing well but dont have the class of Dunolly. Wet weather will help Harcourt.
In the other contest it could go either way with Newstead in great form and Avoca coming in refreshed after a weeks break. I think Oxley and Newsteads onballers are the key because if they can overcome Fields and Kaye they will create plenty of opportunities for a fowrard line full of options and strength. Will be a cracker but i am tipping Newstead just.

Congratulations to young Brandon on winning the League B&F for the Under 17s. After playing a couple of years of seniors he chose to play strictly under 17s footy this year and this has meant he has been able to play consistently well for the juniors every week.

Is that because Talbot reciuted 20 players and there wasnt room for anyone who could actually play to be in the senior team. they seemed to go backwards with all the recuits that they got. Maybe if young Brandon had of chosen to play senior footy he might have learnt a bit more but then again if he is happy to be a big fish in a little dust pile then good luck to him

Tips for this weekends Senior Games.
Dunolly Vs Newstead - Dunolly, be very hungary for a win after there loss last week.
Carisbrook Vs Harcourt - Carisbrook for me having a slump in there performance this year but will win this one.

Who are you picking this week Maroons, seeing as you are on a roll and got none right in the first round of the finals

Apparently when your team starts winning u can bag everyone else around here these days....Does your shit stink steader or is it pure white with no smell at all???

Brandon made a decision to commit himself to the juniors and he has been a fantastic leader for them this year and applied himself very well. The kid is only 17 and has plenty of time to play seniour football and i dont think he deserves to be labelled as a big fish in a little dust ball, let the kid be and pave his own path in his football career.

Clubs take gambles at times, sometimes they pay off and sometimes they dont, better taking a chance than die wondering as they say.

Fair call about the young kid although he might not win friends with his attitude it is his decision at that age where he plays and he should be left to do that.
Back to the footy which is being played at the moment with another good quality senior game with Newstead overcoming Avoca to reach the Grand final. Good effort by whole Newstead team with a lack of discipline costing Avoca at times.
In the 2s the oldies from Talbot where a bit off the boil and got overran by a younger brook side with young Bowen outstanding in the last quarter.
The u17s showed how physically strong Brook are and they were just too good against a younger Newstead team.

did newstead play outside them selves like they all year cause i remember last year they barely got a sniff against any team . but well doent to the stead on beating the top team. but how did avoca play did pillgram get kick let alone a goal . and for the resis brook have shown that a young resis side would be to good for the older reserves sides and the brook seventeens are a good sde and have been for a couple years but newsteads team is young and could be a hard team to beat next year but dont write them off thiss year and tips for todays games and results ???????????????????????? trenam 2010

Not too sure about Newstead playing outside themselves??? They have been pretty consistent all year and have done it the hard way beating Dunolly 2 weeks in a row and then Avoca in a pretty tough match yesterday. They have a very even side and have not relied on any one person too much.

Going to be a great grand final whoever else makes it!!!

Bit touchy Sherman, seem to remember you having a fair dip at a Oxley and Kerr on here a couple of weeks ago.

The kid is entitled to play wherever he wants and good luck to him but as I said maybe he would have learnt more playing seniors.

Newstead played some good footy last year as well and were close to beating most sides but lacked a little bit of experience.
This year they have been very good and have beaten every side in the league. They played well in both finals and yesterday were down to 1 on the bench after half time.
Will be interesting to watch Avoca and dunolly this week in what should be a great Prelim.

Talbot were a bit stiff in the 2s they needed a bit more time and they may have got over the line but they left there run a bit late.

Harcourt were the same sunday, Newstead shot away against the wind and just held on.

All in all the footy during the finals has been pretty good and if the weather improves we should see some big crowds over the next 2 weeks

Brandon is only 17 and has played senior footy consistently for the last 3 years. Over the last couple of years he has been getting more injuries and getting tired due to playing 2 games every Saturday. Decided in his last year of juniors he wanted to have a crack with his mates. Doubt it will harm his development at all.

Did Dunolly win today???

Wouldnt say i had a crack at them, I named oxley in my team of the year just had him on bench , hardly say thats having a crack at him..As for Kerr good player just couldnt fit him into my best 22..

Newstead are playing good footy at the minute ill say that much , week off after 3 blockbusters will be do them wonders.

With the important end of the season upon us would anyone like to share their views on who they think will be the following...

Grand Finalists: Newstead v ??
Premiers??
Best on in GF??
League B&F??
Biggest dissapointment for 2009, why?

Just throwing it out there...

Grand Finalists: Newstead v Avoca
Premiers: Newstead
Best on in GF: Oxley
League B&F: Jimmy MacNamee
Biggest dissapointment for 2009, why?: Dunolly not making the GF given all the cash they've splashed around

Biggest Disappoinment: Interleague being smashed by 100 points. Can't get much worse than that
