Not even the remotest chance. Julian wil play for either Avoca or Redan in 2008. At the moment I get the feeling that the chance of 3 premierships in a row at Redan might be a motivating factor for him next year. Julian was able to hold his form throughout the year and was once again a star during the final series. At the moment I would put the odds at 80-20 Redan's way. Julian is well aware of where the Avoca club is at present and as I have said before - he will know when the time is right to return to his home club.
The other thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that Julian runs a successful business that employs approx a dozen people. He has made it quite clear that he just hasn't the time, at this stage, to devote the many hours needed to coach.
Sure he has had all sorts of offers thrown at him from a number of clubs but he has stated categorically that Redan and Avoca are the only two clubs that are under cosideration.
This won't mean that Avoca will sit around and await his return as the club is in an excellent position to enjoy another great season during 2008. I know that the club won't be leaving a stone unturned in its endeavour to pursue further success next season.

good news wonky, unfortunately the club sat around and waited for julz a little too long in previous years i feel..not offering any long term coaching contracts out..good to see they are continuing to build on successful season, at long last

Rovers - O'Shea
Campbell's Creek ????
The Maryborough Football Club is about to announce its coaching appointment for 2008 very soon. They met with the prospective candidate last week.

Any ideas on who Maryboroughs coach will be Wonker?

Daniel Smith would be most likely to coach Harcourt again.
Newstead would be interesting they usually have one year on one year off of late.
Bushy still looking for a coach? Any news on whos the pres there yet?

COACHING frenzy --- is D. Smith leaving Harcourt ? Wouldn't he try for a 3-peat.
How prominently has "Prickles" Martin's name been linked to the Maryborough coaching role in the BFL ??
He was with his ex-these days Castlemaine mates at the Michelsen medal count the Sunday before last.

Ian Martin's decision to leave Castlemaine was due to time constraints. Coaching Maryborough would be as much as coaching Castlemaine. The talk seems to be that he will finish his playing days in an MCDFL team.

well from what i was told yesterday julian field will be staying with Redan for the '08' season, a redan reserves player advised me of his intensions after julian had told him on 'mad monday' that he would be staying with them. I believe 3 in a row has lured him in for another season while he is still playing good footy, appears avoca will have to wait another year for his services....on another note wonker, it appears the old atomic situp trick has made its way into the redan footy club after your initiation to julian several months ago...the redan boys absolutely loved it!!!!!

Any Footy trip reports yet lads??? When/Where are clubs going??

Talbot heading to Adelaide on Oct 12th.

Adelaide will be a good trip Rich been there the last 2 years. Send my regards to Candy at the Crazy horse!

Brook is flying out to Cairns Friday morning should be good. Roj will be back with a jackie chan looking forward to pre-season:thumbsdown:

Getting things back to the MCDFL, i am expecting massive improvements in the league. So far i have heard these big names are likely to enter the league;
Locky Brown, Julian Field, Ian Martin, James McNamee, Clint Ladiges, Jimmy O'Brien, Brad Ross, Drew Bartram, Shane & Jason Hutchins and the pleasing thing is that it is only October. I'm personally expecting a massive improvement in the quality of the football next year and can't wait to get into it.
All very handy players there. Last time ladiges was here here kicked a ton. Who do you reckon he will be playing for if he does come.

Ladiges is a very good player but if he is on the move again you'd think twice about courting him. Why is he leaving C/L after a flag??? You'd assume he is going back to Maldon.

The 2008 coach would want to have some serious pulling power i'd imagine!

As the whole thing now with McNamee has now been decided, going to Rokewood, as the listed names above seemingly available, which players highlighted on this list would be handy pick ups for clubs around the league?

Would any clubs want any of the remaining exodusing players?

Been away for a few days, maybe trying to dodge my new friend Kimbo, anyway is it true that Prickles Martin has turne down both the Talbot and Natte jobs? And macca to Rokewood, wonder if Crank has any retrospective odds on that one???

Now that he has signed at Rokewood probably no more need to comment on him in this thread!

Not correct on the Prickles rumour!

Ian "Prickles" Martin has accepted the Talbot senior coaching job for the 2008 season. Ian coached Talbot in 2002-03 and has spent the last 3 seasons coaching the Castlemaine Football Club in the Bendigo Football League. The club is very happy with this appointment and wishes Ian all the best.

Last years coaches in Glenn Bench and Glen Wills will be staying on with the club.

That wasn't a comment on him, it was more a comment on whether any clubs in the MCDFL would be aiming at trying to attract any of the other Natte players as there seems likely to be an exodus from the club, where only the true local clubmen seem to be staying.

Good on Talbot for getting the services of Prickles too... any word whether he'll bring any more players from Castlemaine with him?

This will only be another feather in the cap for the MCDFL as the league only seems to be getting stronger and stronger.
