At the end of the day if Avoca are a good club and are looking after their members, particularly their kids, then he will stay. All clubs have the same problems and the ones with good culture keep the majority of their locals.[/quote]

Does that mean that the Bond boys will be staying at Talbot then Rich?

Both boys last I heard had indicated they would be staying. Nath has had a run with Burra a couple of times but just to have a look whilst we are not training. If and when the time comes and the boys want to have a go somewhere else I'm sure the club will wish them well. Both are locals and very loyal to Talbot though.

It's impossible to keep all ur locals..... my point being if your club is successful and an enjoyable place to be then most will hang around/return if they leave.

Heard today off Maxy Martin that Peter Egan is coaching bushy.

Big news out of Rovers, Couple of the club favourites look like returning! Past leading goalkicker Todd 'Fev' Featherston and highly rated midfielder Glen 'Handles' Handley! Two big 'ins' there and maybe more too come, Things are looking up for the boys in Black and White!

Ramsay possibly leaving newstead to either hepburn or castlemaine...

that would be huge for newstead to lose. has there been anymore news from that side of the moolort plains? have they got anyone?

as for Fev and Handles coming to Rovers, if ya ask me, I think Handles is possibly too good for the district league, anyone agree on that? fev would be handy to have back, but just looking at the clunes yeah, didnt seem to do too much

Handley would be in the top 5 players in the MCDFL. Featherstone will be handy. He probably didn't do heaps at Clunes but the standard of the CHFL is a little higher than MCDFL and he was playing for a bottom 4 team which limits your goal kicking ability.

On the ball there Roj. Big news out of Avoca. Can Wonker/bucko confirm that Justin Tapner won't be going round again in 08 for the Bulldogs. Big loss for Avoca if they want to go one better...

first we have hunt, then coghlan and now tapner leaving the Bulldogs!!?? is bellenger next to go back to newbridge?? where is Taps going to play in 08?

A club around Albury. Hunty to head to Western Aus on the 23rd Jan. Both huge losses but the club support them in their pursuits of a career change and wish them well.

Confirmed Crank. Taps is following his little woman up Albury way.
Girlfriends! Just as they can attract footballers to a club, they can also take them away.:)

Reports are that the recruiters have been very busy and a few signings to take place shortly. But it will be very hard to cover the loss of a player of Tap’s ability though.

Looking at the Loddon Valley thread, says a few handy footballers from Newbridge are heading to Avoca.

Agree with both ur points made on the above players. I think it's always good to see players coming back to their home clubs. I also think it's a fantastic thing for the MCDFL when we get players of the ilk of Handley, Martin etc into the competition as it only strengthens it as whole! Great pick ups for Rovers and I would think this would almost move them into premiership calculations for next year.

Lakey and Co will be very handy recruits for the doggies this season wonker

Lakey and Co? Who does Avoca have on the horizons?

the names from newbridge to avoca are ash grant, chris lakey and damien hughes. chris was offered vice capt at newbridge for the coming season so must have some talent and leadership. hughes was a signing to bring the others along, very solid build, not suppose to have immense talent... no idea of $ figures, but avoca is meant to be giving them a room each sat night in the local hotel as part of the deal!!

Although i only caught a few of there games last year (including the last 2 finals) i think you will find ALL 3 boys will more than just fill numbers at Avoca - they were the 3 best players in NewBridges GF loss by a mile - But Lakey is the HUGE recruit , 1 seriously talented footballer. As for your comment about Hughes, don't let him hear you called him "Solid" - his head might grow even bigger.... But i did play 2 seasons with him at Huntly and has alot of footy ability, albeit a temper he needs to control - Plus he is a great clubman! - I wish curls and the 2 other boys all the best out there :thumbsu:
