Most people are saying Oliver has a broken collarbone from a few weeks ago so if that is the case then he def wont be playing. What is wrong with Christmas??

um christmas has a broken collarbone and i'm not sure if its olivers collarbone or lower back

The talk at Harcourt last week was that both Oliver and Christmas has minor ACL's. Can you have minor ACL's??

A minor ACL to me would mean that they could go at any time. If its partially torn it will go without an extended rest period.

Newstead 19-12 D Avoca 18-11
Only got to game at 1/2 time. Avoca 6-6 to Newstead 5-6.
Oliver in, Pedretti in, Kerr in. Ben Christmas on crutches, Daniel Christmas out, Tunn out.
Oliver and Pedretti both kicked 5 in the last half. Pedretti looked good (1st game for the year, I think.) Ollie didn't move around much but seemed to get through alright. Avoca had a couple of good players, No 1 and No 32 (Ruckman) in the middle played well and the guy they kept calling Taps?? also played well. They must have had a few out because I went to the Avoca huddle at 3/4 time and the coach was going on about the 6 reserves players that were playing.
As for the umpiring. Both sides copped the rough end with tiggy touch decisions and red hot holding the ball as soon as it was picked up off the ground. Umpire with 1 on his back at one stage gave a free to an avoca player for in the back when he was last man in at a marking contest. I hope the number on his back is not an indication of his rank amongst the umpiring fraternity in the MCDFL.

How did everyone else go??

Justin Tapner is the bloke in the middle that goes well. As for the umpires i think this league could go ahead if not for the umpires. I saw the carisbrook game who have a new bloke a CHF who pulled down some nice marks. Cambells Creek went well for a half but ran right out of legs and players. Carisbrook won all six games convincingly leading me to believe creek are heading down trenthams path. Very few supporters at the game.

Talbot lost a heartbreaker to Maldon. Was a great game with the crowd getting right into it. Talbot got off to a flyer and then Maldon controlled the second quarter to be leading at Halftime. Maldon jumped Talbot again after halftime and then the hawks started pegging them back to be within striking distance at the last change. Talbot headed Maldon with probably 10 minutes to go and looked to have it won with a 2 goal advantage but it wasn't to be. Poor goalkicking, mistakes in defence and just plain bad luck cost Talbot the game. May have ended Talbots finals chances with a tough draw on the run home.

Clint Ladiges is a very talented player. Had the goalkicking yips early but didn't miss after halftime and is basically Maldon's 'go to' man every time they go forward.

RICH and Scroaty ... mcdfl in the vcfl stats situation is taking a hammering

3 guys each kicked 11 goals for rovers vs trentham .... glen bardsley, todd featherston and glenn travaille
rovers 333-point winning margin is the 2nd biggest winning margin in the entire vcfl this year, beaten only by the flogging harcourt handed out to trentham

six of the biggest winning margins this seaon in the vcfl are in the ..... yep, u guessed it.

This all being due to one team trentham a small reflection of the league. Trentham are struggling big time.

Your a real STATS man mate! You made your point months ago and no one cares anymore! The reason has been pointed out to you and you still seem to enjoy getting on your computer and looking up these all important stats! So next time you feel the need to tell us about your stats remember this... NO ONE HERE GIVES A FLYING F@#K!

Trentham are a mere shadow of their former self. No reserves and senior team is lacking numbers/talent. Under 17's struggle to get a full side so the future is dim. Take any Trentham result with a grain of salt. The town is also stuck in between Daylesford and Kyneton which play in Central Highlands and Bendigo league and therefore lose players to those leagues or gain players from those teams depending on what mood the players are in. However it's common knowledge they are on their last legs. The MCDFL always seems to have a whipping boy and a couple who struggle. Most teams have been there in the last decade. Apart from Harcourt, who look a step above everyone this year, the teams 2 - 7 could beat each other on any given day.

As has already been said, you can contribute 5 of those big margins to the poor state of the Trentham Football Club.

They are an extremely old and proud club and it would be a crying shame to see them disapear, not to mention they are not a bad bunch of boy's out there.

So the next time you feel the need to lay the boot's into a struggling club do it somewhere else please as know one here cares for your your stats, even if the are correct.

Scroater 3 questions:

1) Is Michael Pedretti gonna play out the year?? and Why hasn't he been playing thus far?? If he continues to play I would say that Newstead could legitimately challenge Harcourt.

2) I notice Oliver played... Has he got over whatever was wrong with him??

3) How long is Christmas out for?

1. Don't know, when I was talking to him the week before he didn't say anything about a comeback. He may be playing to help out because of Tunn and Christmas. Certainly looked good though. With him, Oliver, Tunn and Christmas, they maybe top heavy up front, i would think. If they can get it in quick and high enough they may be right.

2. Held some good marks and kicked five. Didn't stray too far up the ground, but then again doesn't need to.

3. Hasn't got his arm in a sling or anything like that so I don't know how long. With Porky back in they can take their time getting him right.

The last few years porky has been playin on the ball a bit, you think he will just sit down the forward line now?

u may be right there scroater that with all those big guys in the one forward it may get crowded maybe one or two of those could help out the back line and play a loose man role, as u should have the fire power up forward to kick a reasonanble score

Porky would be ideal to play half forward and lead up the ground IMO. He has excellent mobility for a big bloke and would have close to the best hands in the league still for a big bloke. I would be moving heaven and earth to keep him in the side. If all 4 were in the forward line then I would be moving Tunny to the bench or out of the side because from what I have seen of him this year his knee is limiting him dramatically.

If Porky plays out the year and Christmas can get back then I think Newstead have a chance to challenge Harcourt! Pedretti is one of the best footballers to play in this league and I wouldn't imagine he would have slowed down too much.
