Yeah Kennedy does heaps, but i thought what they were doing to Cox on the weekend was way too blatant not to call. I was surprised. Seems everyone likes to lay their hands on big Cox..

Interesting take; some on here would have you believe Cox was given no defensive attention while Cloke had three opponents.

Its always interesting what people see when they watch footy. We have a whole thread devoted to a certain player who polarises opinions like no other in our side, and the opinions are very different..

I'd have him at the pies in a flash. True footballer gets his hands dirty wins his own ball and makes others look good. Greg WIlliams & Tony Shaw wrote that book. He's read it very well

It's more what he does with it once he has it and then what he offers when he doesn't have it that's the issue that's debated.

I get that...but I'd much rather someone who can get it than half the sheepdogs running around who can use it when somebody gives it to them

Scuse the intrusion but from what i saw on the weekend Cox was getting scragged illegally in just about every contest by two or three Port players. I couldnt believe he wasnt given more frees by the umps.

I've noticed that if a player has a huge physical advantage on their opponent the umpires seem to unconsciously handicap them. The same thing used to happen to Cloke a few years ago when he was a monster.

I'm sorry if I'm not into the media hype.
Cox has done nothing yet that any 7 foot player couldn't do.
I know I'll cop some shit for that view, but for now he does not impact contests that a person his size should.
For every clunk he does take, he drops three he should take.
He has awareness and agility, but his decisions sometimes are completely wrong. Not that he is alone in those aspects.
Today his role was to take heat off Cloke. Yet Cloke still had 2/3 players on him. That is the respect the opposition put on Cox and Cloke respectively.
And that's why Cox got the cheapies and Cloke got mauled.
Watch the replay. Tell me I'm wrong when you look at it from that perspective.

At first I though you were joking but now I realise you are serious. If anything Cloke was playing a role yesterday to take the heat off Cox. Cox does everything that Cloke can do but he kicks straight and can play in the ruck. The only time Cloke was the main forward target was when Cox wasn't in the forwardline

The only problem for us is that he was often winning the footy and then snapping it over his shoulder in a blind panic kick, which oppositions teams set up for. They'd drop someone 30 metres off a pack and wait for him to blind snap it, then they'd kill us on the rebound. Luckily he's been moved towards more handballs to a receiver in space which has helped alleviate some of the problem. It doesnt stop him being a liability on the turnover however as he cant keep up. Anyway, i dont want to de-rail this thread with talk of Priddis. I'm a big fan of Mason and i hope he continues to do well. Cheers

Just don't think he is the messiah. Which the media/fans believe he is.
Kudos for his achievements so far, but don't ever expect him to be in a flag side.

He's a funny guy.
If he improves etc he will be a terrific big big big guy who can kick straight, help in the ruck and annoy any smaller defender

His marking is developing quite well. It's his fitness that needs dramatic improvement.

Agree - another full pre-season will help enormously. He isn't afraid of hard work. Looking forward to what he can bring next year
