Cox is as important to our side as is Moore the other end. a 7 ft player gets a sh*t load of attention from the opposition, if he was left one on one he would kick 50+ in a year. At this stage he is the best we have, we just need to get our smalls around him and work through that better to compliment him.
You are taking the piss Cox isn’t fit to tie Moore’s bootlaces

He has no value. If you think last night was anything but poor you are kidding yourself

The fact that NO ONE here is as strident as you in bagging Cox after last night, and most are praising him, is proof your opinion is a massive outlier.
I think you're the one that's indulging in self delusion.

All the nuffs always say his value to the side is he draws extra defenders and never gets outmarked it’s simply not true. Was beaten point blank on a number of occasions last night by his direct opponent one on one. I forget the fact that on big footy you can relentlessly bag Grundy and others who actually contribute but can’t say a bad word about Cox.
I thought he was smashed against the Blues - but to still contribute when smashed was a great sign of progress.

He got involved when the game was more or less done. He is 30 and shows no more than an 18/19 minute year old. Will be as old as Tom Brady before he can have a regular impact

He could of done more then stand like a statue. I am no fan of WHE but he lead up opening the space behind him for Elliott. It’s a part of being an effective forward

But he's the bailout option if noone gets a decent lead in. If JDG or Elliott find space and we don't have to go to Cox in a contested situation - great.

I haven't been a fan over the past years but he is our best option and considering he pinch hits very well in the ruck and covers so much ground I think it's working. His work load is just as heavy IMO as Grundy's so he goes alright.
I would like to see Cameron come in so we always have a tall target up forward. Not sure how to balance this with Elliott out now but maybe we go a bit shorter at the back end and replace Magden with more speed as another option.

Where is the improvement. The forwards had it on a platter last night and he didn’t get near it until the blues ran out of legs

80% of his possession resulted in score involvements - he kicked 2.3 which could have comfortably been 4.
I'll take that everyday of the week.

I know the DON"T PLAY COX Club is getting smaller and as the President you are feeling isolated. I reckon there will only be you and the crickets by mid season season.

Nope, no he doesn’t. That’s wrong.

Jones had 6 intercept possessions. Let’s assume every single one was against Cox.

He kicked 2.3. That’s 5 marks / free kicks.

Lets not forget every contest he’s been to that spills out a goal to a small forward.

you might dislike him, but your statement was fake news.
But the problem is that he doesn’t always make a contest of it.
He has a huge advantage over defenders being the tallest forward in the game. He has a lot of ball directed at him as well.
All you want is a contest. The first real contest he gave was in the 3rd qtr from memory where he he had no chance of taking the grab but he crashed into the pack and actually made a contest of it. He did none of that in the first half. That’s all we ask for.
It’s just not good enough doing in for a qtr.

So you want to replace a guy who kicked 2.3 last night with a guy who has kicked 4.2 over his entire career? A career that spans 4 seasons for 11 games?
The guy has played about 10 games and prior to Collingwood was a ruckman. I think we have seen Cameron work hard and compete. Give him a good run at it and I think he would be capable of kicking more goals a season than Cox. Cox’s greatest haul was 25 goals in a season. For a guy who plays 95% of the game as a forward, that’s not good. Particularly when he gets so many opportunities.

Ok - let’s go to just his time at Collingwood. 4 goals, 10 games. Yes Cox could do better, but in all available evidence, he is better than Cameron.

I'm generally a fan of Cox, but last night thought he was mostly awful - but to have such an off night and still contribute 2.1 and create panic in the Blues defense shows his value to the team.

I was impressed that after having such a terrible first half and completely mis-reading his marks he was still demanding the ball more than ever - the guy has endless self belief and desire to take ownership of the game. It's a great attribute for a fwd.

But the thing I loved most about Cox last night was the absolute bile he brought out of the Carlton supporters. They just hate the man! And it made it all so much sweeter when he helped seal the victory.
