Mason Cox's success is embarrassing for the AFL

Its easy being skilled when the most body contact you can expect is body against body and not much more. As skilled as these basketballs and soccer players are under very little physical contact, how would they be executing in a 360 degree game where bodies crash into each other? The basketballers might handle it a bit better because there are a few errant elbows here and there, but soccer players being flung to the ground let alone being bumped with the force AFL players are would lead to an incredible rise in Oscar nominations and a huge increase in tissue sales the world over.

Basketball is a 360 degree game where bodies crash into eachother. On a hardwood floor.

People that have played both almost always say basketball is just as physical, just in different ways.

And fights during basketball > fights in AFL

Well i read most if not all.
And from what i understand is, you are adamant that NBL is a more skillful game than AFL, is that correct?
There fore what you are preaching is that NBL players are more skillful in general than an AFL player, is that correct?
I am not arguing which is the most skilled sport.
From what i take from your posts is you think because an NBL player has better skills, they could try their hand and become elite at any sport.
I would love to see an NBL player win a major at golf.

Ok i can see where the confusion is now. Im using the term AFL to identify the sport of Aussie Rules. Not the actual league.

Pretend i said footy instead of AFL. And when I've said football i meant soccer.

its the momentum that the tackles in AFL carry where you can build up speed from greater distances and jump into packs that is the difference. Its a different sort of contact and for all the time I played both sports, I never felt that I was in any real danger except for the odd elbow whilst playing basketball.

Yeah id agree with that. The big hits in AFL are some of the most dangerous collisions in all of world sport.

If you play the 4 or 5 in basketball against decent opposition you are almost certainly finishing the game with about a dozen or so stray elbows having been planted all over your back and face.

And when a little bloke is on a fast break and a 7 footer decides to flatten him, well, things can get pretty serious considering the hardwood surface.

Physicality is of course part of the game, but it is a mostly a non-contact sport and there is a reason teams can play 82 regular season games and the possibility of 28 games in the playoffs, buddy.

Definitely for the wing players. Theyd only really get clobbered going for rebounds occasionally or on a fast break.

And the NBA has severe penalties for hard fouls that didnt previously exist. But go watch a local A grade mens league in the burbs and people will be outright brawling.

Always used to enjoy looking at the noticeboard in suburban courts to see who was the latest person suspended for life.

A league surburban basketball is hardly "skillful".

So now i am confused.
So you just mean the "game of footy" not at the elite level?
Well colour me purple, you don't need much skill to be able to play footy, you don't need much skill to play BB.
What are you actually arguing about?

Well i have tried to make it very clear to you but you dont seem to understand.

Sorry i said AFL again didn't i?
So i take it all this time you were just talking crap?
But jeeze, i really thought you were saying because an athlete in their field is a better athlete, then they could transition to any sport below them.
Do you understand that AFL at the elite level, and NBL at the elite level are different sports?
Just give me an example of 1 NBL player that can even kick a football 50 metres

You are making up arguments in your head and attributing them to me.

But as for your example, Dean Brogan easily transitioned from NBL to AFL

Actually, i stuffed up big time saying NBL, i was meaning all this time NBA
Haha, no kidding!

I can't imagine anyone earning the coin in NBA even considering anything like AFL, ever. Even NCAA

That would be like quitting the NFL to take up Rugby Sevens

Yep, too true.
But the argument (i think) Viney is arguing is, NBA players would make the transition to elite AFL.
My argument to that is, they are completely different sports, yes 1 or 2 maybe could do it.
Viney's seems to be arguing that because they are more skillful, but i would like to know, in what way.
