Can't believe there is a thread roasting Lynch. He has his shortfalls but Matt Rosa's game yesterday was a disgrace.

I'm not usually one to make irrational opinions after one bad game but this was much worse than a bad game. He didn't want the ball and didn't want to make body contact. He pretended he did, but he didn't. Effectively we were 1 man down yesterday.

When things are going wrong you need senior/experienced players like him to, at the very least, provide a contest.

If any watches a replay of the game just watch him when he is near the ball. Just didn't want it and din't want to put his body in.

Worst on ground. Should get a gig next week in the WAFL. Put Shepard on the wing for now.

Yes, he looked like 2009 Matt Rosa last night didn't he.

Was tentative and had that "I just shat my pants" look about him the whole game. Pretty disappointing from a "senior" player.

It's his first really bad game in like 18 month... I don't think calls to drop him are warranted.

I have to chime in here, Rosa has never been any different. He is soft as butter, shirks contests and just bombs long at every opportunity.

Brown just isn't a League Player sorry. When he went up for a mark with one arm I just thought out loud - HACK!!!!!

Its all good though, we were never going to beat Essendon with those outs anyway.

I've been a supporter for 18 months but what he dished up is not acceptable.

If you get a chance to watch the game again watch what he does. He's sort of near the contest but you can tell he just doesn't want to be there.

Bad games happen but this was much more than a bad game. Go play for Melbourne if you want to play like that. I would have thought a potential flag would mean more.

The last 12 months of evidence disagrees with you.

We had threads dedicated to toasting the improvement in Rosa.

Let's not get carried away. Some of the cricticsm is valid, but saying he's been the same soft as butter outside players forever is just stupid.

I don't need to watch the game again, I already explained why he sucked. We are in 100% agreement of our assessment of his game.

However, dropping a senior player after one bad game is no way to run a side. It's just an emotional, knee jerk reaction to a bad loss.

Give it another 24 hours.

No it's not champ. I've been posting here for 10 years so if you can find me post even 1 post that is knee jerk then be my guest.

Obviously you don't think he was as uncommitted yesterday as I do.

Seasoned players like Rosa need to stand up in games where we are getting hurt, he never has and never will. Beau does it week in and out as does Glass but there are not enough in the team yet to stand up and go to another level in a flogging.

No need to take it so personally. I don't need to look through your history because I wasn't suggesting you had a history of knee jerk reactions. I'm simply saying this thread is reactionary.

Just because I don't want to immediately drop him, like you, doesn't mean I saw his game in any brighter light.

ive noticed it more than just in this game. Its been going on for a while. There will be a contested ball with Rosa in the immediate vicinity to go in and get it himself. Instead he casually plods 2nd to the contest to avoid contact. Opposition gathers the ball unopposed.

Making matters worse, he then makes a decision to avoid the ball carrier who just gathered 2m in front of him, and instead runs off to an opposition man (whether that man was free or not) and pretends to be covering him, when Rosa should be the one laying a tackle.

Seems to me like as soon as the intensity in a game lifts, Rosa gets found out. Probably one of the biggest front runners in our squad.

I wasn't a fan of Rosa's, but he won me over last year. Unfortunately I have seen nothing from him this year that enthuses me about the efforts he has put in. I think he had an interupted pre season? He seems to back to trying to do things he's not capable of.

He just looks really bad when we're on the back foot, if he cant win his own hard ball then he has no place in our 22..hes not going to get any easy ball come finals time. Even Gaff is putting him to shame with some of his efforts(Hawthorn game in particular) and hes a 2nd year stick figure.

Our entire midfield was deplorable last night, not just Rosa. We just could not win the ball enough. But I've never seen him as a ball winner, more as a link man. He can't run and link if Essendon are controlling the game. Thus, he seems bad when the going gets tough. So the downhill skier criticism is probably warranted. I agree he's been quiet this year, and needs to lift his output (along with everyone else).

The most pain I felt last night was watching our mids lose all those one-on-one contests to guys like Stanton and Zaharakis (who are quality players of course, but I would have expected more from us).

Have to agree BB, was pretty disappointed in his (and others) effort to get to a contest.

Woosh will be in his ear this week you would think and I would suggest he will be a fair bit harder next week. If he gets a jumper that is.

Will be watching him closely.
