Had a look if a Rowell thread already exists and couldn't see one - apologies if I missed it.

Mitch Cleary on 7 News just reporting that Rowell met with Chris Scott and Andrew Mackie post-season.

OOC at the end of the season. I can't see him leaving his mate Anderson with the Suns on the improve - but he'd sure save a lot of money on zinc cream down in sleepy hollow.....

Very funny.

He would cost us the equivalent of 2 first rounders (which would be fair) but I doubt he leaves gc anyway. Nothing to see here.

interesting player.

very good in a phone booth but almost a liability anywhere else.

hard one to value.
Liability is harsh, but it is true that he has ever developed much spread outside the contest and he didn't have much impact in the stints up forward they experimented with in the second half of the year.
Tom Mitchell one of those types, and without him, we wouldn't have won a flag, they're pretty handy when it tightens up.

mitchell post leg break sure - pre leg break mitchell covered much more ground than rowell does, always presenting as an option just really high workrate.

not sure what it is about rowell but he generally looks lost unless theres a stoppage.

That phone booth is still the most important thing in footy and he's A grade at it. To a team with the right outside players around him he's worth a lot.

You mean two late first rounders? :) Too generous.

Depends where you think Geelong will finish ladder wise in 2026. I'm just saying gc would ask for 2 firsts and be within their rights to (I don't think a player for player trade would be realistic).

If you guys finished any higher than 8th, GC should be asking for at least 3 firsts, considering one of them would be 2 years in the future

They just do it so well, Geelong.

While the league is clamouring over a potential Harley Reid decision, and the Perth clubs are jumping over themselves for Chad Warner, they are strategically working on Rowell, who has gone under the radar somewhat.

It was very well known in footy circles that his family wanted him in Victoria after his first contract at the suns. He has stayed a lot longer than most initially thought, probably due to his lack of footy across his first couple of seasons.

Geelong obviously now the front runner, but Collingwood will still be in the hunt.
