I don't rate media work as very important in the grand scheme of things. As long as it's not club damaging levels of bad like the Birdbrain/Pyke camp presser. I don't understand how anyone could think Nicks is "brilliant" though. Even if it's meant as "good at scamming the media", why should I applaud that?
Don’t think brilliant could be used

I get what you are saying but the media historically has extraordinary leniency for middling clubs. Clubs like St Kilda and Gold Coast cop very little heat despite their horrendous, embarrassing records over the years. The media just doesn't care.

The media are too busy being fixated on the horrible teams (2-3 win seasons) or teams facing scandals like Melbourne. Unless you're a massive Victorian club they'll leave you alone.

I've listened to plenty of the pressers and Nicks never gets asked any serious questions that would require massaging or brilliant media work. It's mostly softballs and non-questions. The only time he has ever really copped heat was over the Rachele situation where he had to face maybe 2 hard questions.

The media sees us as a pretty average club, and when we continue to be pretty average, there's no story, we're meeting expectations, so they don't care.
And they don’t follow up when he provides a bullshit answer

I've listened to his pressers and he's delusional. I cringe whenever he says "we're a good club" when we're obviously not or "we weren't ourselves" when we put in a performance that is par for the course.

There's never any follow up from the media to those answers either.

I never said he is getting the best out of them. Once again - you are letting your hatred of Nicks get you all emotional and irrational.

I simply said they play for him and he hasn't lost the players.

Once more - I haven't. For the millionth time - I wanted him gone in 2022.

All I am saying is that we have brought in a guy to help Nicks with his biggest weakness - which is an upgrade on 2020-2024. There is a lot to happen before we know if its successful.

You see, I interpret "they play for him" a lot differently than I do "he hasnt lost the players". Semantics maybe, but you didnt suggest that originally.

He hasnt lost them all, entirely, no. But hes far from having achieved getting the best, or even a good consistent level of performance out of any of his players, let alone the team as a whole.
Thats an inevitablity when you reward mediocrity whist placing zero value on accountability on a weekly basis.

I just can’t listen, what comes out his mouth is pure rubbish with no content
It's what i call pure fluff.

If you listen closely to what people say, you soon work out who knows what they are talking about & those who little clue what they are doing.

He’s going at
0% against Longmire, McRae & Yze
16% against Goodwin & Chris Scott
20% against Hardwick
21% against Fagan
25% against Mitchell & Dew
Thankfully the players like him, participation awards all round

This is a professional sporting organisation. If you’re not getting results you need to be moved on.

But hey, apparently he hasn't lost the players so nothing to see here lol.

Surely if he fails to make finals this year he is gone. What worries me is that any finals appearance gets so over hyped that we think Nicks is the man and we gift wrap another contract up with it.

We should sack him during the season if we are not tracking for finals.

They wont. The AFC are the feel good PR club. All the clubs decisions are based on what will get them a positive headline. We signed Nicks up when we did to spare his hurty feelings getting in the way of our certain 2024 finals appearance.

Yeah, it's what I would do, not what the club would do

Thats what a professional football club would do, correct. Be ruthless, aim to be top bracket elite. The AFC seem intent on winning the popularity vote by maintaining the hard done by rookie coach with inexperienced teenagers at his disposal narrative.

A 5 year coach shouldn't be still a rookie... if they were any good.

Making same mistakes....

Huh? He dropped Rachele which was widely criticized. The easy (and correct) decision would have been to let Rachele play.
He dropped him because that was the groupthink
Weird. Who is he giving the middle finger to and why?
Keep up. The club need to grow a pair and not react to outside criticism and drop a player
Huh - What the hell does this have to do with the Rachele decision 4 years apart. Stick to the topic.
Keep up

The week before Stengle was found comatose on a dance floor. The Crows would have banished him. Geelong played him because they are not sheeple and they gave everyone the middle finger
