"Newman also said that club legend Matthew Richardson was coming along nicely.

Richardson is yet to decide if he will play on for an 18th season but Newman said all the players were hoping he was able to go around for one more year.

"He [Richardson] has started with us and he's coming along really nicely,” Newman said.

"He's still doing parts in rehab, but all reports are that his body is feeling okay, so he just has to make that decision, whether he wants to take that next step and play with us next year.

"Fingers crossed [he says yes] - we all want him here."

GUTTED!

Champion of the game... and life!

Love the bloke.

Could Rd 1 get any bigger...?

It's going to be a massive send-off. Well deserved.

FML:mad:

just wanted to pop by and offer you all my sincere condolences. It's tough saying goodbye to a club legend, as we've found out all too much recently.

Congratulations on having one of the best & most passionate men to ever play for your club. There'll never be another Richo.

But he's put the team first. You gotta admire that.

VALE Richo

Re: Richo retiring tomorrow

Excuse me for jumping across to your board, but I just wanted to share my shock and respect for Richo's career. If there was ever a player that I loved to watch from the opposition, it was Richo. A bloody champion bloke, and I still remember the first game I ever saw at the G was against the Tiges in 95 and Richo had it on an absolute string.

I always admired his endeavor and passion to give it his all. Well done on a great career and all the very best to him!
