doubt you will get an accurate poll, one player is loved the other is hated, similar results to polls involving Stephen Milne will result.

Or, those that vote Richardson do so because they believe he was a better player.

Crazy thought I know....

So Betts is an objectively better player than Milne and all who voted genuinely think Betts is better and have 0 trolling intentions whatsoever?

thanks for enlightening me that is the thought process of all voters

You do realise that poll asked who had been better for the year (2010) up until that point in time. Even a nice little stat summary provided showed that they were pretty even, and the poll reflected a reasonable even result.

Geez that worked well for you.

Johnson and it's not really that close. Guy was a gun, had something like 6 All Australians. Shame about the way he left the game though, but still had a super career. Richardson would have been a better player at another club and could have been an all-time great if he played for someone else. But unfortunately, he never reached those levels, and really was a victim of circumstances getting selected by Richmond.

Johnson let himself down a bit in his last 3 or 4 years with his antics on the field, however he was a top 10ish player for 6 or 8 years before that, something Richo didn't achieve for as long.

my point still stands, there are many other Milne poll threads in the search results that are inaccurate for the reason I listed, i just clicked a thread at random and used it because I cant be bothered dealing with someone that has a limited grasp on how people vote on bigfooty.

You have made a thread where a player is beating another in a landslide in a foregone conclusion which you no doubt already had in mind, furthermore you are comparing apples and oranges (KPF vs Small Forward), nice contributory thread mate.

Not quite.

2007
2008
2009
2010

were his last four years.

2007 he was AA with 59 goals (2.8 a game) averaging 19 disposals

2008 he still kicked 50 goals (2.0 a game) averaging 18 disposals

2009 he kicked 37 goals (1.5 a game), not exactly a terrible year. He averaged 21 disposals playing more up the ground.

2010 he was injured and subsequently went to shit.

As for the poll. Johnson. 6 time AA, one as AA captain. Double that of Richardson says a bit.

Well said. Played every game and came third in the best and fairest in 2009. Hence why he played on in 2010

I know it's all personal opinion, but are you serious, not even close?

Most goals ever kicked at the 'G, 3rd in the Brownlow in the last year of his career, played up forward and on the wing, great mark (second for all time marks taken in AFL history), fast for his size and great endurance, 3xAA quite possibly would have been in more AA sides if not for a lot of injuries early on, if he had of played in a Premiership side or two he would be down as an all time great in the AFL not just at Tigerland, although, he is still in both the Tasmanian and Richmond teams of the century.

It's close but if you look at overall achievements in their careers I think Richo wins this one.

Johnson has a better career as it turned out, but Richo was more talented and this wouldn't be close if he had played for another club that had a bit more success.

Or if he hadn't have injured that knee in 95'. Prior to that he looked like he could have been anything as a player; probably the most Buddy-like player of his era. Made Richmond look scary the night they took North apart in Q1 that season.

On talent, I've got to go with Richo too even if for one reason or other he didn't get the best out of himself - and that's quite a compliment considering he kicked 800 league goals (11th on all-time list). I've not seen a lot of players that have his raw talent.

2009 been stricken from the history books?

Brad Johnson WB team of the century.
Represented Vic in SOO
6xAA (again, twice as much as Richo) including one as captain. You can argue about Richo's injuries all you like. The bare facts are Johnson has been selected in the AA team twice as many times.
Runner up in the coleman in 2006 (74 goals), bear in mind he's only 182cms

As for most goals kicked at the MCG.. so what? Brad Johnson most goals kicked with a smile on his face. It's about as relevant. Especially considering the MCG has never been the Bulldogs home ground. 3rd in the brownlow? again- how many people take the brownlow seriously nowadays?

Richo could play on the wing? yeah a little bit. Johnson was an above average forward and midfielder for most of his career.

Overall achievements in their careers are not really much. Runners up in awards mostly. On the little they have achieved, Johnson is ahead.

Not really comparing like for like so hard to compare. Comparing AA gigs is kind of pointless too, given who they were up against to win it:

Over his career Richo was up against a combination of:

Carey, Lockett, Ablett Snr, Modra, Loewe, Hall, J.Brown, N.Riewoldt, Pavlich, Tredrea, Neitz, Fevola, Franklin, Bradshaw, A.Lynch, Sav Rocca, Lloyd, Lucas, Roughead, Gehrig, Chris Grant, Cummings

Johnson was up against:

Akermanis, Chappy, Betts, Milne, Phil Matera, Nathan Brown, Brad Green, Porplyzia, Steve Johnson, Medhurst, Giansiracusa, Neon Leon, Russell Robertson, Jeff Farmer, Alan Didak, Yze, Shannon Grant, Dew, Jarmen

Not really the same quality.

Johnson let himself down a bit in his last 3 or 4 years with his antics on the field, however he was a top 10ish player for 6 or 8 years before that, something Richo didn't achieve for as long.
