Yeah depends on how much Melbourne would be looking for at the trade table. I wouldnt be offering a top 35 pick at the him considering he is out of contract.

Id offer a third rounder and a fringe player, as Matthew is a fringe player himself.

Considering he's out of contract and unlikely to play seniors unless a defender goes down, he might chose to seek a trade.

What do you expect from a Hawks supporter ??? ALL their players are worth a 1st rd pick, even those about to be delisted ............

if your dealing with clubs stupid enough to give up their first pick for a player the quality of Brock Mclean then there's no harm in trying:thumbsdown:

Brad Miller kicked 10 two weeks ago and can't get a game, why would the MFC get excited by a randon 4 goal effort from Dowler?

Fisher kicked 10 a week ago as well and can't get picked. A 4 goal effort for VFL reserves is shite...For a so called potential AFL player that is.

So but Hawthorn wouldn't just put Dowler up! a draft pick aswell. Also i think Melbourne Supporter would be asking to much from Hawthorn and Warnock's only a fringe player. We could put up Ladson to ya's or Ellis or there's always Jarryd Morton.

Warnock would be Hawthorns no. 1 defender and a walk up start in there first 18 every week.

In Hawthorns cases he could hardly be considered fringe so they would have to reward Melbourne accordingly. In this context "fringe" is a relative term. God they gave up pick 20 something for Gibson last year so given their first round pick will be about the same that would be his worth.

In any event if Matty Warnock was looking for other opertunities then Carlton would have to be in the box seat. They have quality young ruckman to trade and Matt's brother is there. Hawthorn will get what there given.

I agree!:thumbsu: But i think you guys are in the box seat for this one!
Also i figured out a trade!

We trade our first draft pick and maybe a fringe player or someone like Ellis to West Coast(or Brisbane), West Coast trade you guys Mitchell Brown(Or Cornelius if it was in Brisbane's case). Then you trade us Matthew Warnock 3-way deal?

I think you are overrating the trade value of Matthew Warnock.

Matty Warnock back in the side this week, but that still doesn't mean he will stay at Melbourne.

Do you actually have evidence that he wants out beyond the fact he's played the last month at Casey and he apparently has a phobia about playing on Roughie so will admit defeat and move to Hawthorn to avoid playing him?

Well its becomeing a Brian Lake story but going the opposite way. Brian Lake also said it was a daunting task to play on Hall but now that he moved to the Bulldogs he said, he knew that he had to stay there!

Has Warnock been selected this week to pump up his trade value.

No, Joel MacDonald is out hurt. He has been on the cusp of selection for a while. Warnock is definitely good enough to be playing senior football. He is stiff that the only commodity we have a surplus of is tall defenders.

Fair enough.

he will want to play well if he does indeed move.

First off, I would like him to stay because he is worth more than we would actually get for him.

Instead of putting it in context of first round - second round, pick a number.

I think that Warnock would be worth between pick 17-22.

If. And only 'if' he said he wanted to go, I would be happy with a pick around there.

Hawthorn would be a good fit. And it would be a great trade for them and a decent return for us.

Warnock is defiantly worth a late first rounder. I'd expect the Hawks to give up their first pick for him, he'd defiantly fill a need for the Hawks and that is worth paying over the odds for.

We have recruited 2 demons in previous years.
We have a Melbourne history on the coaching panel.
We are after a key defender.
Robert Warnock plays with Carlton.

Coincidence?

I cant see him fetching a 1st rounder. But you never know.

Carlton or Hawthorn would be the ones wanting someone like Matty Warnock.

Perhaps Sam Jacobs + late pick could get the deal done? Or Hampson? (Ithink Jacobs is a better footballer personally)

Jamar can't ruck solo forever and Gawn has a few years of development ahead of him. Paul Johnson is a spud, so it would be win win for both clubs.

I don't see who the Hawks have that would address a need to Melbourne without some risk attached.

If we had to give up that much i'd be looking elsewhere... Would you give up that much for Bret Thornton? (Obviously Warnock is rated higher than Thornton, but both are in similar positions right now... playing VFL... on the out at their respective clubs). It wouldn't be in our best interests to give up our prime real estate this trade period (Jacobs) for a 27 year old defender...
