I'm invoking the memory of one of Bay13's greatest flogs and starting a war on shit threads.

In the same way we use the failed picture thread thread to remove unsightly picture threads, suitably crap threads will be moved here to contain them lest they infect Bay13.

Let the facepalms begin.

Disallowed Goals: Now added to Tallies!

According to gopower, Nick Salter kicked 3 goals on the weekend, when in actual fact he kicked 2 goals, as shown by the stats on the AFL website:

Ebert 3, Davenport, Rodan, Gray, Tredrea, Salter, Broadbent 2, K Cornes, Westhoff

The 3rd time he kicked the ball, Ebert gave away a free kick and the goal was disallowed. Yet gopower is continuing to claim he kicked 3 goals in a couple of threads.....

Now thinking back to some of the greats (Dunstall, Lockett, Coventry) think of times where they were "robbed" of a goal by a selfish team mate giving away a free kick, a blind goal umpire, or a poor umpiring decision and it can be added to their tally (well according to gopwer it can)

So here's your chance to boost your favourite players tally! (or think of some Spuds who have been robbed too)

BTW, Salter played on the weekend and kicked 3 goals (although one was disallowed through no fault of his own but instead because of an Ebert tackle off the ball). If the disallowed goal wasn't disallowed, he'd have one goal less from his first 2 and a half games (he went off injured at half time on his debut) than Jack Riewoldt did from his first season, which included 8 games, and without including that goal his first 2 and a half games have netted 2 less goals than Riewoldt's first 8. Mitch Morton got 11 goals from his first 11 games, Salter just needs 5 more goals including the disallowed goal and 6 more not including the disallowed goal from his next 8 and a half games to equal that. So before you start bagging players you might want to find out who they are, or it might reflect unfavourably on your club.

With one more goal to break Bob Pratt's record, either one of these in the last quarter of the '71 GF would be sweet:

Twenty-seven minutes in, Peter Hudson kicked for the record from 20 metres, and straight into Barry Lawrence (who obviously had gone over the mark).
There was also a goal from the square, after Bob Keddie marked and handballed over the top, but the white maggot recalled it, ruling he had blown time-on.

Salter kicked two official goals, in a game that we won by 6, so I don't give two shits that the third one didn't count. All I care about is Salter's future as a player, and in the two and a half games he's played at AFL level he's kicked the ball through the big sticks 6 times, 5 of which counted. Very good start for a promising young key forward . Congrats on being the first person to have your thread moved into the failed thread thread BTW.

In the past 14 years, they have finished 9th SIX times, and around that ladder position a few other times as well.

In AFL, finishing 9th usually means trying to achieve success, but missing out.
Tanking usually means to NOT trying to achieve success, purposefully lose a match, and missing out.

Two very different things.
