Some people love their sport more than others, but be realistic about how many times you're actually going to go and compare it to buying tickets individually, or an EFC membership plus a few tickets to other games and a cricket match or two.
I had an AFL membership right up until I was about 22 and gave that up because I wasn't going too often (and my old man now wanted me to start paying for it).
If the Bombers start getting close to making a GF, I'll upgrade my membership for that year (along with everyone else I suppose). But I wouldn't be able to justify paying $500+ a year just in case we make the GF when we should make the GF about once every 9 years (by averages). But going by the previous 30 years, it's clear that there are 3-4 year windows of success, followed by possibly 20 years of none. I'd be happier taking the punt at the start of the year than having a membership for next year when I know we won't make the GF.
