To me it doesn't sound right but the more you think about it the more it makes sense eg. We are the sporting capital of Australia etc

Could make for some better relationships between the club and AFL teams eg. 15% Sporting membership if you have a current AFL membership perhaps.

If we're being serious, how about Southern Cross FC? I also like the Sporting suggestion, but then as the only Sporting Gijón fan on BigFooty, I would do.

And colours? They should probably try and avoid anything specific to any one Melbourne-based AFL club. Is green and gold too presumptuous?

The FFA wouldn't like green and gold at all I reckon. If the Heart name stays then maroon is the obvious choice, especially since no other team already uses it as their main colour.

I know there was talk that the Roar should be renamed Brisbane Town FC when they decided to change their name this year. Brisbane Town FC would have been perefect.
