From the sounds of it, it depends on the outlet.
I'd say the head office/state office outlets (which is the Entertainment Centre in SA) who know the ins and outs of the ticketing policy will be much more picky than the suburban outlets when it's a newsagent/lotto seller.
I remember back in the 2006 PF BASS at the Festival Theatre refused to sell me a concession ticket without the appropriate card, but the City Cross agency did it no questions asked.
If you think Ticketek struggle to cope, imagine the balls up BASS would've done if they were doing it.

Still a reasonable line at CityX, was heading towards the side exit, got in line - only took about 30mins. They had a good system, lady checking Ticketek ID number with drivers licence then the next lady printed them off.
She put them in an envelope but I wasn't moving until I checked them, didn't want Justin Beiber tickets by mistake.

Saw the line at Marion went off to Findon, only asked for a phone number, got out in 2 minutes.

Pretty happy with my seat. Above the corporates in the Olympic Stand and just off centre which is where I usually sit at AO. Will be able to see front on when the guys hold up the cup as well!

They're your usual Ticketek tickets - just with a bit of extra information about the event being a 'Declared Event'
