Membership Tally 2012

Spose I'm back from holidays I should look into getting a membership. To 1870 or not to 1870 is the question.

****ing hell Rory you know you should.

Did you get to a game in the EPL mate?

Essentially it's just another $300 odd dollars for a book. I'm all for going above and beyond financially for the club (always held a Platinum Membership despite occupying the cheapest seats in the house), but i ain't payin' no $300 odd dollars for no book!

Yeah I probably should, more than likely I will.

And yep got to the City v Stoke game so it was nice to see a solid win.

Was surprised when I went down to the club today to get my season ticket and there was no one from membership to do it. The girl in the megastore was unable to do it either.

Is it too hard to train the girl in the megastore to do memberships???

And while Im at it there aren't enough XXXL merchandise for big fellas like me. Would have spent $150+ today but ended up walking out with a cap only.

I might be a bit over the top in my defence of the club sometimes but in this case it is justified.

There wouldn't be an organisation in Australia operating at full capacity during the Christmas/New Years break so I'm positive the PAFC aren't running solo in not being able to fully satisfy their customers this week. If you go back in the next few weeks and encounter the same problems then yeah let rip but expecting everything to happen on the 30th December on a Friday during a short week? Give me a break.

The merchandise is obviously in a transitional period with sponsorship issues so I'd head back when an announcement is made.

Lets always hold the club accountable but lets try and be realistic about it.

Its called a roster, many places use them. I wasn't being critical but was surprised that a contingency plan wasn't in place to deal with this. How hard can it be to have a standard form to fill out, take the money and then once someone from membership is back from holidays get in contact with those who signed up. To be flatly refused to be able to get a membership at the home of the club when they are open for business is surprising to me.

I could understand if the place was closed but fact of the matter is our club cannot afford to miss one membership. Two other people were also looking for memberships but didnt persist with the girl at the desk like I did and insisted she take my money and foward it to the right person when they return from break.

Customer service is a small thing to provide to ensure we get as many people as possible to sign up and then get to our games. Its one area we should be able to compete with every other club and ensure we get every person wanting a membership signed up.

I just hope we didnt lose 2 memberships today.

I'm with you Finmelda Barrcos.

Despite being an insufferable cheapsk8 who only held Gold prior to this year, I compromised and went up to Platinum+WAPA to reinforce the 1CLUBEdeFUTBOL despite the fact I'll probably not get to a Maggagies game in Twentytwelve.

Given I'll no doubt buy guernseys, hoodies, Whickerdogs, plastic pints and shout you another Kangaroo-based meal at The Port Club, I figure that's financial support enough.

Without wanting to sound like a merchant banker, if there were 30000 deeteesers and finnys out there (let alone Biggie-Smallers, REH's, Roaries and Art Vanderlay Silvas) we'd be mint.

Except there are unique circumstances relating to PAFC membership.

#1 - If you want to change details of your membership/s, you can't do it online. So you're going to have to speak to a club rep, and a significant portion of Australians would rather have dental surgery without anaesthetic than call a hotline.

#2 - Lots of people are on leave, as you say. This means they have time to do the little things that a regular busy working schedule may not allow, such as cleaning gutters, giving the car a service, and renewing PAFC memberships that need to be done at the club. This is entirely predictable, and I know I was in almost exactly the same position as christoh this time last year.

Lets always hold the club accountable but lets try and be realistic about it.
Realistically, if you can't provide a complete online/automated service to sell season tickets, and your primary business involves selling season tickets, then you will ALWAYS need people capable of selling season tickets, particularly at the first significant break after those season tickets are released. Seriously, is there a complete dearth of uni students that want summer work? I don't believe it.

These work hand in hand. People don't want to talk to people via phone or in real life. Especially us Y gens, we want work that involves as little human interaction as possible and try to avoid people at all costs.

I have for many years renewed my membership online, without any problems except when I changed addresses. This year I did the same and f***ed part of it up in that I didnt add on the WAPA component. So when I had a spare few moments I went down to the club, went to the megastore where these matters were handled in the past, and got told to go to the membership counter opposite the store. The young lady there was extremely helpful and fixed things up in the time it takes to swipe a CC.

Being this time of year, maybe only one person was rostered on, and if she was to get crook or whatever, there may not have been a Plan B. Understandable.

Regardless, the people in the megastore should have been informed of the situation, but you can't rely on them being trained to do what someone else is accountable for.

The club should have at least put a notice on the membership counter informing the public of the situation.

However, I cannot fault the club with their handling of person to person memnbership renewals this year. I think they have (up until now) made a concerted effort to make it easier all round.

Killing it boys.

Fair point but to be honest I can't wait for the season to start. I am very impressed by our off season moves.
I do see a bit of negativity about our club going around on the other boards, even a couple Port guys saying GWS will beat us. A bit sad really

With our football department and fitness spend last year we were fighting blindfolded, in concrete boots, with one arm tied behind our backs.

We will never be as artificially hobbled ever again.

Gee I hope so. With the cost of football operations always on the rise I really worry about our ability to keep up over the journey.
