well given I got a call yesteday and signed up my 2 boys, im guessing they are ramping up their telephone drive efforts now in the leadup to the first games (and before we start disappointing people again ;-)

Imagine what a positive NAB cup would do for membership and excitement into round 1

1400 is 2 days???

Maybe there was a bit of a back log or something. Even with a phone drive 700 a day is a lot of people, would they even be able to make that many calls in a day?

Hopefully we see the club out in force Sunday getting people to sign up.

that's interesting....
they only updated it Tuesday and it was 25,875 or something.. WHERE DID 1,400 MEMBERS COME FROM IN 2 DAYS!??

corporate?

as at 23/02 - 27,242

Family Day last Friday. They had a members booth. Plus I think the SANFL give the two SA clubs the AAMI memberships details once a week. So that's two chunky sources.

obviously not all would come from the phone drive. You'd be (really) lucky to get 10 per day doing outbound calling (as an educated guesstimate - you have to connect, and get a +ve outcome). So, say we had half a dozen callers = 60/day = 120 in two days, tops.

Fantastic numbers for a few clubs there Hawthorn in particular.

North and Footscray have had massive campaigns so must be a little disappointed at this stage.

We are going ok.

That's what makes it so frustrating to me footy head.

How a club with 30,000 members can't be profitable and so flipantly be termed a club on the nose or throw them out the door astounds me! The think a sporting organisation could throw a membership base away of that size is sad. (Assuming it was to happen)

I signed up as a corporate member this week. I am nutting out some plans where everyone will be able to help indirectly or directly. Hopefully it will save people money and make the club money. Will reveal alot more in a few months.

Are kids memberships counted?

I saw in another thread that Hawthorn had around 15,000 kids memberships last year. That's great for the future, but if you combine this with the 8-10,000 Tassie memberships and they get say 55,000 members, that is really only 30,000 adult memberships, so in terms of actual revenue they gain from their memberships, it is not as fantastic as probably the raw figures suggest.

Papa wouldn't there be kids memberships inflating ours too? What about people who buy multiple memberships? Sort of distorts things
im sure there are distortions like this in every clubs memberships so it doesnt really matter in the big sceme of things especially if you are measuring against other clubs

It doesn't bother me that these kid memberships count, the stupid ones are the three game memberships, would be good to get a proper breakdown from the AFL just to see how some clubs memberships are over inflated.

Do their pet memberships count?

Yeah the break down is roughly-

17,380 Humas

8,502 Budgerigars

6,949 Guinea Pigs

6,218 Gold Fish

4,019 Moggies

3,972 Canines

1,515 Battery Hens

2 Panda Bears

and Lemiwinks

Do their pet memberships count?

Not in the official AFL totals released in early July as they don't have game day rights. Each club would take a different approach - some are in on their homepage total - some ignore them.
