But without going into a heap of detail, i'll just say that these boys should be thankful they are gifted footballers, because some of them really lack in the people skills/gratitude department.

I consider myself a pretty die-hard supporter. Will do just abotu anything to support this club. But the attitude of some of (alot of actually) our players, considering what it was WE (supporters) were doing for THEM last night almost went a little way towards turning me in the direction of Myee8 territory (and no, i aint talking about WA!)

I did say almost.

But i wouldnt have thought it would be too hard to say "thankyou" or even "hello". Or to take what we were trying to do seriously.

Disappointing.

This is one of the reasons why I am reluctant to meet players.

I don't think I could cope with finding out that my heroes were d**kheads.

name names Carlos.

Tell us players you were most dissapointed in.

But remember guys although they are our heroes,
we must remember they are after all just football heads!

No chance.

I've said enough. I dont wanna turn this into a gossip board. It isnt for that.

The club will know my thoughts though.

Oh come on Carlos.... at least give us some clues... some initials should suffice. Just kiddin'

It all sounds pretty disappointing.

I managed to sell six last night. I only spoke to one person that didn't want to know. There were a number of people that said they would join on Friday night, or in the near future, as they were trying to scrape the money together and I think they were genuine.

The most common reason that I had for not joining was financial ie unemployed, just bought a house, just had a baby. I also had two that were going overseas shortly and a couple that were ill and unable to attend matches. Overwhelmingly they all still supported the Roos and watched on TV or listened on the radio.

There was only one lady that wouldn't join because Carey had left the club. We had a long chat and while I couldn't convince her to join she said she still loves the Roos and will come back after Wayne retires.

While we only managed to sign up 297 the people I spoke to were happy that the club was taking this initiative and it still might pay off in the future.

The players that were sitting near me did a pretty good job.

Good to see Watson put in a good effort or he may have had.....

At the moment my friend is trying to get his cousin to join, I was suprised to find out that he has never been a roos member his whole life. His excuse at the moment has been I'm an MCC member so I don't need to be a roos member. poor effort that.

hi all,

Long time no post.

I'm one of the guilty ones not buying a membership yet and not even having gone to a game thus far this year.

I traditionally have been one to get a membership late in a footy year - may/june for various reasons and yesterday i got a call from clinton alleway.

yeah i signed up on the spot and he was pretty good in his really laid back sort of a way.

He got a kick out of the fact that i knew who he was (i was the first to recognise him he said) and we had a little chat about his background - brissy then bxh and now us on the rookie list.

He actually said that if i wanted to i could speak to digby who was next to him but i told him he was good enough for me.

He stated that it was hard going with alot of people saying they were unemployed or whatever for not signing up and that the lists had a few double ups.

He did a good job anyway.

The membership telephone drive on Monday night increased our membership tally by close to 300!!!
All players and staff should be commended for their efforts!

Sorry, Joybell27, Briedis & Carlos for not saying hello.

There was no stuffing around with chat. Hard work. I got 6 and 3 baby Joeys. And a few saying they would join this week. I had about 40 that i didn't speak to, 10 or so that I left a message for.
Also had a few that had joined in the last few days.

So saying it was a poor result is wrong of the 6000 we only spoke to about 3 thousand on my stats.

Carlos,
some of the younger guys were a bit silly, but thats youth and thats the footyclub.

When Diggers started clapping when people in the other area were clapping, i damn near wet myself.

Stevo, Colbert, Arch, Kingy and Diggers were around me and performed well when i asked them to speak to someone.

The membership manager got alot out of the experience and next year I'm sure will be better. I will be in it, it was a good feeling signing people up, even it was only a few.

from all posts read its great effort to all and sounds like a lot was learnt, what if it was to be done a little earlier next yr so people would not of lost 3 home games already,

i think we well and truly discovered that last year!

Out of the 6000 lapsed members that were to be called on the night, only around 1500 householdes were actually contacted and spoken to.
This then means that the staff, volunteers and players on the night did a FANTASTIC job signing up 20% of the lapsed members!!
Also, this was not the first means of trying to get these people to rejoin. A reminder letter was sent before the start of the season, a reminder 'postcard' was sent early season - the phone-a-thon is the final means of trying to get these 'missing members' to join.
What else can the Club do????

********KEEP UP THE EFFORT KANGAS**********

I live in tassie and am thinking about signing up... just wondering what would be the best deal for me and what sort of stuff would i receive? I don't really need one where I can attend games, but yeah I don't have too much money so just want one that says I can support the club! would luv some stickers for my car ;)

AJ - the Club Kangaroos package is the one you want. $50 gives you recognition as a fully fledged member (plus the bumper stickers) - but excludes game day benefits such as ground admittance.

Mainly designed for country and interstate supporters who can't get to games but want to take their support of the club to the next level.

Just go to our website and check the various packages available. There is a membership for people who can`t attend games. It`s about $50-60 from memory. I think you get the quarterly club newsletters, a membership card and ....stickers. More importantly, you can proudly call yourself a member!

Beauty! Get my stickers :D and recognition of being a Roos member! what more could u want, haha!

It's funny actually, as I have never been a member, but i feel it is the right time to start now, even though it's one of the hardest years for the club in the last ten years. Some people may drop the club for this, but I feel more obliged to join... Guess i'm just a passionate supporter ;)

Let's sign up everybody!
